It’s that time of year when many of us go pumpkin picking somewhere. It doesn’t have to be at a farm or pumpkin patch, it can be at your local grocery store. Where do you go picking pumpkins? Let’s find out………….

Are you buying pumpkins this year?
If yes…from where?
(multiple choice))

*I’m sorry this is so brief this morning. This website is being incredibly difficult this morning, more than normal. It’s taking me longer and longer to post these polls due to website constantly refreshing on me and then I lose some of my content (this morning it took me 1/2 hour). @WebmasterCorey please help with this. Many people are struggling with this website, not just me. People have suggested paying for an add free site to make it more easy to use. I know I’d pay without batting an eyelash. Thanks for your help

For Me……This is the first time in 30 years that I have not bought any pumpkins. I feel kinda guilty, like I’m quitting on autumn and Halloween. The inside of my house is decorated though with lots of fake pumpkins. My house is at the end of a dead end street so no one sees our front porch besides us, so I decided to save the money and not decorate with anything.

We stopped buying pumpkins when the grandkids no longer wanted to carve them. But we almost always bought them at an apple orchard. We would make the annual trip to our favorite apple orchard for apples, apple cider and freshly made apple donuts. We would pick up our pumpkins there. :)

I pick pumpkins every year. I grow them and my dad grows them. This year I had no luck (animals ate my pumpkins) but my dad had a good haul!

We don’t do Halloween but I always get a pumpkin or two (or more) for my autumn decor. I “pick” them out of a huge bin at the grocery store. As Monday is Thanksgiving and we’re hosting a feast, I’m a little behind in getting things set up. I’ll be buying the pumpkins, fall mums and turkey all in the same trip on Saturday. :goodvibes

We get them at the grocery store too. Cheapest and they look good.

Haven’t craved in a long time, wouldn’t buy one at all but husband gets 2 for the seeds to roast.

Due to our heat, you're not finding much in the way of true pumpkin patch farms for picking. In fact, it's really too hot to buy real pumpkins until Halloween week. Things rot fast when it's 90+ outside. Most people here either get them from supermarkets or a number of churches will put up cute little pumpkin patches. We have a large church just down the street from our house that's kicking off this weekend.

I buy from local farmers, the grocery store and Trader Joe’s. I usually have a lot more in the front but I kept it simple this year, with my witchy 🧙🏻‍♀️ 🐶 dog as the star of my Halloween garden.

No pumpkins yet so far this year. Marie will pick up a few small/medium size ones at the grocery store, for decoration and for the animals that hang around the area who like to eat them. When the kids were young, we used to go to some of the local farms that specialize in Fall/Halloween.

A side note, Illinois is the country's biggest producer of pumpkins by far.

This year happens to be a yard picking one. This spring I was gifted with a dozen pumpkin seedlings that sprouted up in someone’s compost pile. A nice mix of sizes resulted, including some quite large ones. I gave away three so far, and still have to pick the rest.

Past years were at a farm pumpkin patch, farm stand, or store. In recent years the stores (especially warehouse type ones) have been the main source for me.

We'll get one in a couple of weeks, the Sunday before Halloween, and it won't get carved until Halloween. They rot too quickly otherwise. Last year I was amazed at how many rotten pumpkins they were throwing out at the grocery store Halloween week. Always get ours at either the grocery store or Walmart. Decades ago we used to turn our Jack O Lantern into a pumpkin pie after Halloween, but they aren't the best variety of pumpkin for pie.

Don't do pumpkins or pumpkin picking. I love carved pumpkins and used to love picking different designs to carve out, but the mess drove me too crazy!
