I just found out my 15 month old has a milk allergy. She can't eat anything with milk in it. Does anyone know if there are places that will help with it. We are wanting to character meals. She loves to eat, I don't know what to do.

The character meals that I personally feel comfortable with for allergies are:
Princess Storybook Dining
Liberty Tree Tavern
Cinderella's Royal Table
Garden Grill
Garden Grove Character breakfast (weekends only, I think)
Gulliver Grill Dinner
'Ohana Character Breakfast

Those are all served family style or menu-style. Any of the restaurants will work with you for allergies - but I feel much safer not eating off buffets. I did try buffets my first year with food intolerances and I found it very, very frustrating.

For a 17 month old, though, it would be fairly easy for them to bring her a plate of food she would be likely to eat from the back - and she wouldn't miss the variety or want seconds or anything.

My just turned 4yr old has allergies severe allergies to dairy, eggs, nuts, seafoods and a variety of fruits. We've been going to Disney twice a year for vacation not just because we love Disney but have found it to be the most accommadating for kids with allergies. Even before they started charging him for meals(<3yrs), they would send the chef out and figure out something for him to eat. When he was younger, we'd get a plate of plain pasta and steamed broccolli. They would give us either an italian ice, fruit bar or popsicle for dessert. When it's a table service, I always let the CSR know the allergies when I'm making the ADR's. They give me a number to call before my arrival. Then I remind the hostess and server when I'm there. My son seemed to always break out in hives when he was younger, sometimes with no apparent reason. I'm guessing it could be from left over butter/milk residue on tables and highchairs. No matter how much I wipe down the tables, he would often end up with a few hives around his face and arms/wrists. It usually went away on it's own, but sometimes I'd need a little benadryl. Now he's a little older, he's fine with the hotdogs, chicken fingers and hamburger. The breading on the fried chicken at Hoop Dee Doo/Trails End was fine also. At Chef Mickey, the chef makes him dairy-free and egg-free pancakes. It takes about 20 minutes, but they are well worth it. They also bring out little jars of maple syrup so you don't have to scoop it out from buffet line. My son is also OK, eating the popcorn at the parks because it's vegetable/palm oil and basically artificial color and flavor. Not saying it's healthy, but it lets him enjoy some snacks like other kids. At the ice cream kiosk, there's usually a popsicle and fruitbar selection. Always double check what people say about what's OK or not because different kids have different levels of allergy severity. I always bring some snacks from home too, such as Wheat and dairy-free Fig Newmans, poptarts and crackers in case I don't find what I'm looking for when he's hungry. I always bring benadryl and my epipen just in case. It's nice to have a kitchen though, so I can cook a few good meals during the week.

Both of my children have life-threatening allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. I feel Disney goes above and beyond on their treatment of allergies. We have always been accomodated with no problem. I, personally, am even fine with buffets. The chef has always come out and spoken with us, and walked the buffet with me. One time, at Chef Mickey's, there was a pb&j pizza on the kids' buffet. Before I even had to say anything, the chef asked my ds what he wanted to eat (Mickey waffles), and she went back to the kitchen and prepared him his own, so that we didn't have to worry about cross-contamination from the buffet line. :thumbsup2

My DS has severe dairy and egg allergy also. Disneyworld is the only place I will vacation with him (almost) as they are SO accomodating! The only hard place we've found is Animal Kingdom. He can only eat a meal at Restaurantasaurus (sp?). There, he'll get a hot dog substituted for the chicken nuggets in the kids meal (and no bun, thanks to wonder bread NOT - they add dairy to ALL their buns now!). Oh wait, I just remembered, last time, we got him the plain salmon at Tusker House with rice or something. Yes, be wary of the WS at EPCOT, as the other countries often have dairy. We have avoided Italy and France, but he loves sushi and the Yakitori House (DH is Korean so although I'm caucasian, we eat a lot of rice). Anyway, it should be a good relaxing time, and they are so good about allergies. But I never forget the benedryl and epipen, just in case.
