I now I've seen a few posts on this, but I wanted get s bit more info. Both Dh and little DS have food allergies. I know I need to make them aware when I make the PS and again when we check in, but is there anything else I need to do?
Both have nut allergies, and Dh is allergic to several fruits/veggies in their raw form (some sort of a mutated pollen allergy :confused3 ) Are there certain restaraunts that are better at working with allergies? Anyplace we should avoid altogether?
Thanks so much for any help!! :goodvibes

Our DS has a peanut allergy. This may be easier for us since it sounds like you are dealing with multiple allergies, but we dont usually mention it when we make the PS. We only have once or twice at places where I know they had peanut products. In general we tell our server when we are seated. They will go over everything or check with the Chef. If they dont know what is safe or not, they will bring the Chef right out to us. I should also add DS only eats the typical kids food, which again, makes this a bit easier for us. Not being adventurous helps. ;)
But overall, we have found Disney to go above and beyond the call of duty when dealing with this. Good luck!

I have multiple allergies ranging from mild to severe.

Tree Nuts, peanuts, coconut, and scallops.

The only restaurant I've had a problem in was Boma.

THere's a thread near the top about food allergies at WDW over on the disbilities board, you might get more info over there.

Tell them when you make your PS, they will give you a # to call, call it talk to the chefs and make sure your food will be safe!

WCC @ WL has been amazing in my conversations with them, we'll see how they do in 2 weeks!

I will be there in a week. I notified Disney dining of the allergies (DS has severe allergies to peanut, tree nut, fish and I always include shellfish too on the list just to be safe) when I called to make the PS's. You could always call up DD now and tell them to make a note on each PS for you.
Then, a few days ago I called each of the restaurants individually, using the numbers Disney Dining gave us (they told us to call the restaurants).

Just about every chef or restaurant rep returned my call if I could not get them directly on the phone the first time. Most have taken note of the allergies for their records, but explained that you should still alert the hostess upon check in at the restaurant and the chef will meet you at your table to go over all of the foods that will be safe. They told me that with the buffets, if you see something you would like but are afraid of cross contam. at the buffet, they will get the same thing for you back in the kitchen, where there's much less risk of the allergenic foods touching food you'd like to eat. Similarly, they can make the dish for you (I was envisioning pasta) in a fresh batch to avoid problems.

They really are extremely accommodating, as I am sure others with this issue have already attested to in their posts in the other thread. Someone in another post provided a phone number for Disney's office that deals with the dietary requests and I think they can get you ingredient listings for the foods served in the parks.

HTH!

Thanks! I will definitely check out that other thread. :)
We are lucky in that the nut allergies are not so severe that we have to worry about cross contamination a t the buffet. They need to not eat them, but being near a nut food on the buffet should fine. Dh has to be very careful of carrots, but their pretty obvious in foods, and he doesn't like salads anyway, so he'll just avoid that section. ;)
Anne, can I ask what problem you had at Boma? We are staying at AKL, and I had hoped to eat there one night if possible. However if it puts them at risk we'll have to skip it.
Thanks you again for your help!

Go over to the disABILITIES Forum. This is something that is discussed often (and the forum is not as active as this one, so threads don't get pushed off as quickly).
