I am back from my RCCL vacation and guess what we docked directly next to in Cozumel? That's right...the MAGIC. My DD was teasing me so much - she said Why don't you go up on deck and yell over "Captain Hans, Captain John...whoever is capt. now...I've been kidnapped..save me!" We were in our cabin getting dressed to head to the beach there and I was watching our boat dock on tv. I said, Julie, pls. tell me those aren't Mickey ears I see on the ship next to us! Later I got a funny look and then a smile from a Magic crew member who was on the dock as I marched off the Monarch of the seas wearing my Mickey beach cover-up, black and red DCL Castaway Club bag in hand, my DCL waterproof ID case around my neck and even wearing my Mickey beach shoes. DD was carrying her DCL CC beach towel. I will give you my comparisons for the 2 ships - there actually were a couple things I liked better on RCCL, but I must tell you. There were 11 ships docked or tendered off Cozumel that day and none could hold a candle to the Disney ship for it's beautiful lines and style. It's truly a classic. Pls. read my comparison - this trip turned into a nightmare after our lovely day at the beach.

Hi Sandee...Where's your trip report/comparison? Would love to read it.

Sandee~I can't find the thread. Was it posted? I would love to read it. We were actually considering a RCCL cruise this time, but decided, the kids were still young (6&8) and RCCL would be best when they are a little older, maybe 2004. I still need my Disney fix EVERY year!! hahaha

Sandee-
I was on the Magic the day you were in Cozumel! I was on RCCL in September and also loved their cruise line for different reasons! They are both great. I couldn't believe how many ships were in Cozumel on the same day! It was fun peering into your ship from across the dock. Did you feel homesick for the Magic?

It would have been funny if you forgot you were on RCCL and tried to board the Magic.

Welcome Home!
Tina :)

ILUVALASKA,
I actually wondered if any DISers were on the Magic that day. Did you do any excursions? We just grabbed a cab to the state park and snorkled and soaked in some sunshine. The cabbie said "What beach?" I drew a blank and my daughter who is an adult said , "Uhhh...Chunka-Chedda-Cheese-ah". He knew what she meant because he took us right to where we wanted to go.
HOPKINS,
I thought about going into the water at the dock in Cozumel and trying to board the Magic from the other side! LOL. My only requirements when booking this cruise were that it be cheap and that it not sail from Port Canaveral - I didn't want to see a DCL ship...so I end up docked next to it.
If you saw my comparison of the two ships, taking RCCL this trip was well worth it $$$ wise, but of the 11 ships in port that day, the Magic is the only one I could call beautiful. Also when we left Key West the day before we sounded our horn and I was so disappointed....No wish upon a star. If I wasn't going on 4 nite Wonder in March I would have spent all day in Cozumel just gazing at the Magic.

I really preferred St. Thomas/ St. Martin over the western carrib . ports of call. Glad I got to try western cruise, because now I know which ports I liked best.

How ironic is this! We are BIG Disney fans, sailing on
the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder BUT this year
we are "cheating" on Disney and sailing RCCL (Navigator) in
June. We, too, will miss Disney, our kids too. But, we want
the chance to experience something different, but I'm
just afraid we'll be making so many comparisons to Disney
it will ruin our trip. BUT, have no fear, we will be back on
the Magic August 2004!

Hopkins....it is funny you said that about getting on the wrong ship....when we were on the Magic on the 1/4 cruise we were docked in Cozumel and a group of elderly ladies were walking down the pier in front of us. They were very engrossed in their conversation and walked right up DCL's gangway....when they pulled out their ship cards we noticed that they were RCCL!!! We politely told them they were boarding the wrong ship and they almost keeled over!!!! They were laughing so hard that they had gotten that far up the wrong gangway!!!!

I would have loved to see the DCL crew tell them they were on the wrong ship!!!
