Follow Up - DS portrayed Walt for school

I reported last week about DS project for school where he reported on Walt Disney, dressed in character and gave a first person account of his life for a school project.

Well, today was the school competition to select the top 4 to represent his school in a county-wide competition. He was chosen as one of the top finishers!!!!

I am so proud. Walt has always been his hero. Such a neat idol -IMHO. We made him an easel and he portrayed Walt working in his studio sketching as he told his story.

Just had to share!! Thanks for letting me brag!! He is not one that is into sports and it is so nice to have him have an opportunity to "shine!"

Wish us luck at the county competition in May!!

That's awesome! My daughter had a "Biography Day" at her school a few weeks ago (she was Amelia Earhart) and she was telling me that a boy in another class dressed up as Walt Disney! What did your son wear? My daughter said that the boy wore a suit and carried a clear, plastic briefcase with sketch pads, pencils, markers, etc. inside. The kids also had to make posters and she said that "Walt's" poster had a cool rendition of Cinderella's castle. Good luck at the competition!!

He also wore a suit, had a drawn on mustache, carried a briefcase and cardboard tube containing plans for the "Florida Project" He then sat on a wooden stool at a wooden easel and sketched Mickey. He ended his speech with "I hope we never lose sight of one thing, it was all started by a mouse." As he said his last line, he turned the sketch toward the audience to reveal his sketch of Mickey.

Oh that is such a cool idea! I did a biographical project on Walt when I was in 8th grade.
