Is anyone else amazed at the way National's rates are changing???

I made a ressie about 2.5 hours ago for a 6/21-7/1 Full Size and got a base rate of $106.95 (previous base was $111.95). I wanted to check something out so I just went in to make a new one and the base rate for the same car is now up to $121.95.

Amazing how quickly they can change. Boy am I glad it hit that Reserve button earlier and didnt decide to wait!!!

That is a wonderful rate for so many days. Do you mind me asking what code(s) you used to get it?
I am using the 600330 contract code and the 10009123 coupon and my rates and I don't believe my rates are quite as good.
Thanks
Suzy

You have to keep a close eye on National.

6600330 and 10009123 are two of the best to combine to get a good rate. You have to get the base rate when it is low. I have found that rate late night on a Friday night and a few times in the early hours that I am at work.

They have been up and down so much.

My rates for 9 days are (June 14-23) are 132.10 EA. My friends rate is 100.14 for 7 days (June 16-23), full size ER.

I used the same, but keep in mind that the $106 is just the base rate. My total for the 11 days is actually about $173. Not bad, but I'd still like to get it lower.

As duds said, the rates are going up and down incredibly fast. I guess tomight I was just lucky to snag the lower base. I'll keep checking (several times a day) right up to the time I am heading out the door!!!

I waited!!! Saw the lower rate, talked to DH and we waited. I too, just checked and of course it has gone up!! If I make a ressie, can it be changed to the lower rate if I see one? How would I do that?

Thanks,
Kris

Just for fun, checked it again. In the last 15 minutes, has gone up about $20 more! Wow, this is crazy.

Car rental is the easiest to change. IF you find a lower rate, simply book that and then cancel the other. There are no cancellation fees. I have cancelled and rebooked 9 times for my June trip already!

Make sure to make the new ressie first, then cancel the higher one.

I have 2 ressies for week of 11/5. One for EA and one for Emerald Reserve Full Size. After checking both again just now, the base rate for each is up over $100 from what I'm reserved at. Got EA for $99.23 and ER Full Size for $109.77. Not sure I'll be able to beat that at any point, but I keep checking.

I have a car booked for $138 for nine days in July. I'm not complaining, but I check every day to see if things will go down. Just now, the weekly rate is down by $20 -- but for some reason, the Priceless code, which I've been using right along, isn't being accepted. Anyone have any idea why?

I hava intermediate for May 28-June 9 it winds up to be 9 days for $138 which I thought was pretty good. But I just checked now and its up $20.

I just booked two intermediates yesterday for 14-20 June. They came up to $120.00 (with all the stuff added on). Today I checked and the rate is now down to $106.00 for the cars. So, I cancelled and rebooked. Who would have thought?

Minnie, I would keep trying. I have seen that happen sometimes, then when I try again a few minutes later, it goes through just fine.

Kris, too bad you missed the lower rate. Dont worry though, the rate is bound to drop again sometime soon. Just keep checking... :rolleyes1

Mine went down too. I really did not think it would go lower than $113 for 8 days- Aisle. Then last night down to $107-aisle, and $115- reserve full size.

Right now, I have reservations for both. You can't keep both can you? Don't want to pay for 2 cars when I get there.

Have any families of 4 (DD 6,9) 2 adults, found an intermediate too small. We will have 1 lg. suitcase, + 2 smaller ones, for the trunk, and misc. bags (backpacks, laptop) that can go up front. Will an intermediate be big enough?

One one hand, I figure we will get there, and nothing but intermediates on the aisle, but I know if I go with reserve, we will get there, and several SUVs will be sitting on the aisle.

Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance

I've been checking my National rental for our upcoming stay (getting there Sunday  ) and while those rates haven't changed in the past few days, I noticed that the price for my November Int./EA rental has gone up from $91 to $204! :earseek: And that's with Priceless and Ent. coupon codes! As soon as I know I'm going to WDW, I make a reservation and use that as my "base", then keep checking for rate drops and modifying the ressie to get the lower rate. I'm glad I did it in this case!

Magical Express with free transportation starts in less than a month. Are the other MCO rental car companies fluctuating like this too? I'm just wondering if the drop in demand for cars is driving the rates up? I'm not at all interested in a free bus, DH and I want a car, even onsite.

If ME is causing a drop in demand, I would think that the rates should go down to try to draw people in. :confused3

I agree with you though, we have no interest in using ME. I love having the flexibility of a car.
