We have a 15 week old puppy Annabelle, she is a GoldenDoodle (Golden Retriever X Standard Poodle) she has fairly long hair. We have been getting snow & sleet all day here. Whenever we take her out, she gets big clumps of ice frozen to the hair between the pads of feet, when she comes in she slides on the kitchen floor and has a hard time standing. I have to get her down and pull these ice clumps out of her feet. Do any of you know of ways to help prevent this? I thought about buying her some booties, but am afraid she would try to eat them. She seems so uncomfortable. Our other dog was a Dalmatian and we never had problems like this.

Will she sit still long enough for you to clip the hair on the pads of her feet? My dad used to have to do this to his hunting dogs!

I was going to suggest what Otto's Doll said. We have Shelties and in the winter I have to keep the hair in the pads of their feet trimmed or they bring in snow balls in their feet.

We have a silky, and I towel off and then blow dry him when there's snow.... and try to keep him from going out too much, fat chance of that! ;)
