Flying with pulmicort and xopenex?

So we are taking the kids to WDW but I haven't flown with my son's meds in our carry on. This time I have to, since we will be in the air when it is time for him to get his meds, and I can't risk getting to the hotel and not having his meds handy (since we are using DME).

So, I know I can fly with his liquid zyrtec since it has a prescription label on it. But if I just bring 'packets' of pulmicort respules (since it comes as packets in a GIGANTOR box, and the prescription is physically on the box) and 'packets' of xopenex, am I going to be tortured by TSA? Has anyone flown with these meds? Will I be ok bringing his nebulizer on the plane? (Our nebulizer is silent so it wont annoy other travelers.) I really dont want to use up all the space in my carry on by bringing those two meds in their boxes, but I will if I have to.

Any suggestions?

TIA :)

A year ago, my family had no problem with her nebulizer and pulmicort. I think we took the box, but nearly flattened it, with just a few packets inside (I'll ask my mom when she comes back in town). But it is possible, and we were not bothered at all. We did have the nebulizer out of the bag, though, when we went through security so they could see what it was. Also, the little respules are less than 3oz. so I don't think you should have a problem.

Maybe bring the box, flattened, and put it in the quart-sized bag with the respules (unless the boxes yours come in are bigger than ours and won't fit).

I'm sure someone here will have better advice, though.
:grouphug: Good luck!

A few times every year I fly with my nebulizer, pulmicort, and xopenex. The only problem I have it getting my bag checked at security, otherwise everything is fine. I carry my medication in a small red bag, nebulizer and all. It's really easy to carry. Maybe buying a special bag to keep everything in will help. I also get doctor notes before I leave. Just in case security questions my medication, I show them the note.

I am not sure about your prescription labels, but my daughter's also use medication with labels on the box. I put their medicated patches in a large ziploc. I then cut the label off the box (cardboard and all) and put it in the baggie. It takes up a lot less space.
