I am ust wondering if anyone has recently flown with the new regultions. We have a 14mo old and a 2 mo old. We will need bottles for formula and our oldest will have her sippy cup. How did you handle these...are you allowed to board with a sealed bottle of water for formula? How about Milk or Juice for the oldest?? What about liquid tylenol?

Personally, I have found anything in a bottle or sippy cup is fine (as long as you've got a kid with you) and have never been stopped or checked for it. However, if I forget and have a bottle of water for formula - they will take that from you. Milk in a sippy cup is fine, and then buy water after security - or they'll give you water on the plane. Tylenol is fine - it's pretty small.

We either buy a bottle of water to fill up with at one of the airport restaurants after security or fill up in the bathroom/ drinking fountain- the lass we nedd to worry about when going through security the better.

Everything you need to know can be found here:

I would advise anyone flying to check that site often prior to your trip

In short you are allowed to bring formula, breast milk and juice when traveling with a baby. You are asked to only carry what you will need for the trip but I would bring enough for 24 hours in case of an emergency or delay.

Most TSA agents consider a "baby" as under 2 and most won't allow liquids in a sippie cup. In the OP's case I would bring what you need for the youngest and follow the guidelines above. For the toddler I would bring a few empty sippie cups and plan to purchase juice, milk and or water after security to bring onboard.

I have seen many juice boxes and water bottles in the discard area and I have seen and read reports of parents asked to empty sippie cups before security.

The TSA website I linked above also has a great area on clearing security including dealing with taking off childrens shoes and coats, scanning strollers etc.

Flying out of Philly.
Sealed formula- no problem. Sippy cup & liquid tylenol will not get through. Luckily Philly is a nice airport. Once we are through security, there are plenty of places to pick up juice and water.

I agree about the sippie cup - unless its empty of course but,

Liquid Tylenol should be fine as it is exempt under medications and can be over 3oz. You are "supposed" to be able to simply delcare it. Again the info is listed on the TSA website.

I don't doubt you of at all, esp since I fly out of Philadephia monthly but there are rules in place that allow medications. They should not be in the 3-1-1 bag but you do have to keep them separate and declare them. If folks are flying in the future and need to bring liquid medications consider printing out the info from the TSA in case you get a misinformed agent.

From the TSA:
"Additionally, we are continuing to permit prescription liquid medications and other liquids needed by persons with disabilities and medical conditions. This includes All prescription and over-the-counter medications

US security and UK security differ greatly on this.

UK security will allow baby formula or fresh milk in baby bottles as long as you (not the child) tastes it in front of the security official.

US security just has a look at it and confirms that you have kids with you of a young enough age to require it and that you have enough for your journey and a possible delay eg not a hold all full:lmao: .

An alternative to actually taking water on to make up bottles of formula is to bring ready made tetra packed cartons of formula milk as these don't need to refrigerated unless they have been opened and are obviously sealed as well as being pretty obvious as to the content. We had no problem with them with US security, but in the UK had to arrange to buy them from the airside branch of Boots (bit like Walgreens but have a branch in the airport departure lounge).
