Flying with Lunchables?

Weird question- Since the TSA started the new "liquids ban", has anyone been able to bring a Lunchables snack pack on board a plane? We are flying during lunchtime and trying to figure out what to give our DD for lunch. Thanks for any help,

Thanks, I wasn't sure if we could take any Lunchables-even without juice. The TSA site mentions yogurt, mayo, mustard, cream cheese etc. It's ok to buy past security, I don't think Dulles airport sells things like that. I'll look into it.

It depends on the lunchable, definately not one with a juice box/bag included and many have reported that packs of mustard/mayo are also a no, no and have been confiscated. Apparently, you can have a sandwich with mayo but not a sandwich and a package of mayo,

For lunch I just make the kids sandwiches and use frozen grapes or carrots sticks as an ice pack. I also pack lots of healthy snacks, a few fun treats and then purchase beverages after security.

We took the small one with ham, cheese, crackers and cookies and had no problems at the airport.

Thansk Pezpam. DH and I will probably pick something up, and bring a "homemade" Lunchable for DD. Without anything the TSA will toss out. Hopefully string cheese, cracker packs, and grapes are ok. Thanks for everyone's suggestions!

You will be fine with this, everything you mentioned is ok. Just remember no liquid or gel

fwiw my dd's love my homemade lunchables even more than the store bought and I like it because I can control what goes in. I have some small cookie cutters and I cut the shapes into the lunchmeat and cheese. We try and save the real lunchable container when we remember and then I fill it up for them and the pop it into a sandwich ziplock. Tupperware and IIRC one of the "disposable" tupperware tpe companies have a great divided dish for this as well. If you freeze the grapes it will keep everythig cold and fresh even the cheese and fwiw my dd's love when I freeze carrot sticks or grape tomatos. They make it past security, act as an ice pack and evidently are very good even when still VERY cold.

Thanks TJ for all of the great suggestions! I will look into making my own lunch. DD is 2.5 & really picky. She is starting to eat lunch meat more know, but refuses to eat a sandwich. I will try to make it fun for her.

i wondered if we could bring any food,. is there a site where we can check what type of items we can bring on board in our carryon's?
We have an evening flight during supper hour and i thought we could not bring any food that was not purchased at the airport past security. So as long as there are no liquids, i can bring ?? I want to bring the snack packs of cookies, crackers and the fruit type princess snacks, granola bars, would these pass?

Going to WDW a couple of weeks ago we bought sandwiches and stuff AT the airport (DFW) and took them on the plane with us no problem. We flew at dinner time, and just drank sodas on the plane. On the way home I had a HUGE Disney bag with all of the WDW snacks we love....cookies, crackers, peanut brittle, etc. It was NO PROBLEM at the Orlando airport! They looked through it and we joked about it. The inspector said "My favorite is the Mickey ice cream bars!" I said "Yeah, too bad I can't take them on the plane!" Our only issue was hand sanitizing gel. They told me at Orlando I would have to put it in a zip lock baggie (it was in my purse, which was not a problem in Dallas) and I did not have a baggie so I threw it away. Take hand wipes to avoid this problem........

Food is fine as long as it isn't liquid or gel so no pudding, applesauce etc.

Incorrect, with qualification. They are allowed if you put the spreads ON the bread/bagel before approaching security. You cannot bring in packets of cream cheese, jelly, or pb&j with the intent of putting them on the bread later.

It really doesn't make sense. Why are unopened packets of condiments seem more likely to be tampered with than stuff already spread on bread? If that's true, that we can bring bagels, good for us! My father started this weird tradition of bringing bagels with cream cheese & lox sandwiches on board the plane to Disney. I'm hope to keep carring on the tradition!

LOL - no a PB&J sandwich is fine as are the bagels as long as the cream cheese is spread on the bagel and not in a packet As I said above a turkey sandwich with mayo is fine but a turkey sandwich and a mayo packet is not, don't ask me

just to let you know- if you buy pins, then you should pack them. my mom yelled at my sister for packing pins in her carryon [ she thought it would be confiscated ] , but luckily they weren't. And knowing my sister, she probably wouldn't give up her sovenier pins

pack plastic bags. they come in handy for bring snacks or when you are packing to come home.

I STRONGLY disagree that Disney pins should be packed in checked luggage. You will have 100% NO PROBLEM with them in a carry-on bag. But if you pack them in checked luggage they could potentially be stolen (not likely, but it does happen).

Seriouly, there's no security problem with carrying-on Disney pins. They are not a security risk. Check out www.tsa.gov

Remember that the ban on liquids and gels was in response to a plot to bring explosive materials onto an airplane to blow it up. When something like jelly or cream cheese is in a packet, there's no way to know what's really inside that packet. But a bagel or PB&J sandwich could be inspected if desired.

The lox sounds yummy! I'm sure the scent/odor of the fish wafts throughout the cabin, so I sure hope you bring enough for everyone!!!
