We'll be headed to WDW on Southwest tomorrow (!!) and will have a lap baby with us. I am planning to bring his birth certificate with us to show proof of age, but wondering if I need to bring the original or if a copy would be okay? I've never flown with a baby before, so this is new territory.

I flew Southwest with my son about a month ago (he was 4.5 months). When I called Southwest, they told me a copy of his birth certificate was fine, so that's what I brought. When I asked at the airline counter if they needed to see it, they said they didn't need to see anything, since he was clearly really small. They told me they only check when the child looks like they could be close to that 2 year old cutoff. I didn't even bother to try to show it at MCO and they never asked me.

I would bring the copy just in case, but you definitely won't need the original.

The SW policy requires the actual birth certificate. But each time we took our little guy (he is 2 and 1/2 now), they either believed us because he was clearly a baby or just let us show a pic of the certificate from our camera

Thanks for the responses! I will just go ahead and bring it. My guy is only 13 months, but he is GIANT - already in size 2T.

would rather have a copy and not need than need a copy and not have cause you could then end up needing another seat. Ps do not know if this would affect your trip but if he would turn 2 during your trip he would need a seat on way home. found this the hard way
