Flying with granddaughter

I think the argument that you shouldn't get a medical treatment authorization letter because they can be faked is not a good reason to skip it.

about 5 years ago but what would happen today if parents can not answer phone calls at work. daughter works in a school not a teacher but in a classroom and not allowed to have her phone during classroom time. ps we had a death in family today. texted her just after start of school and I am still waiting to hear from her. would hate to be waiting all this time with a sick child
This is a false equivalency. If you had a sick child in need of treatment you would pick up the phone and CALL the school or place of business and say you have an urgent need to get in touch with XYZ person. While a death is terrible, what is it you expect your daughter to do? I am sure if the death was of a child or parent you would have CALLED the school and asked to speak to her as her presence would be required ASAP and was not a matter to be handled via text message. Heck even those working offshore on oil rigs, there is always an emergency procedure to get in touch with said person.

That sounds totally crazy to me. My husband used to be a teacher and while I thankfully never needed to, I certainly could have called the office in the case of an emergency and had him paged over the intercom to take my call. I’d never text him about a death in the family!!

I think most places of employment have a way to get a hold of someone in a true emergency situation.

with her job the answer would be they would give her the message and have her call me back when she was able to phone me. she is assigned to a single special needs child when child is mainstreamed and is not allowed to leave child in room without her. her phone is in her purse in special needs room. the factory where my husband just retired from will not page a factory worker for any reason. only way to get someone is call the supervisor, hope that person is at the desk and have that person go get him, if not leave a message, and have him call you back. if long distance call must call collect
