Could anyone tell me if a baby of 3 months is allowed to fly with Virgin-Atlantic to Orlando.

We have been having a discussion and some of us think it would be allowed, others think that it wouldn't be.

Also, if it is allowed has anyone ever taken a 3 month old baby on holiday to Disney. I really think it would be impracticable but the people involved think it would be ok. They have a chance of going for 3 weeks in Sept 2008 with other family members, and they would really like to go.

Any help really appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Lyndon.

I've taken a 6 week old baby on holiday to Disney. It was fine. Of course, you have to be prepared that you will do things very differently from a 'normal' trip.

We all had a great time. Our daughter was 2.5 years at the time, and our son was 6 weeks old. We were there that time for 2 weeks.
We took everything very slowly. But then again, my daughter was also very much into the slow view of the park stage at that age. It was just as much fun for her to meet the characters as go on a ride.

I was nursing, so that was a bit more challenging, but it worked out fine.

We are traveling with virgin this dec with a 9mth old,we have booked a sky cot for her and they are located at the bulk head seats.

Of course it will be different with a baby - you may have to take more time out from the parks. But in WDW I found the baby care centres were great for a stop! A change of nappy, feed & sit in a rocker for a bit of R&R throughout the day!

We took our own pushchair & it was always a bit of a nightmare getting on & off the trams at the car parks, but if you have extra pairs of hands it will be easier.

Hope you have a great time if you decide to go.

We flew last year when Morgan was only 12 weeks old. He slept most of the journey in the Sky Cot and we got to stretch our legs on the bulkhead seats....best flight yet!

We just got back and this time at 15 months, a little more of a handful. He had his own seat, but didnt really want to stay in it a great deal! He slept on and off, but easier as a tiny baby!

i forgot to mention the flight - yes we also had the bulkhead with a skycot...
he slept much of the time (as 6 week old babies tend to do)..

the flight was easy with him at that age..

We took Evie to Orlando when she was five and a half months. She slept most of the flight and was as good as gold. She was just on our knees which was fine ( and we couldn't have afforded an extra seat for her!). She adapted really well once in Florida and slept like a log at night! She was happy in her puschair in the day and went on lots of rides too! We went with our parents which was a great help and we had some time on our own as well. The baby rooms were a life saver. Here's some photos for you:

gorgeous photos verity!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

When you say you went on alot of rides - would you mind letting me know which ones??? (I have looked everywhere and can't find which ones a baby (ours will be 9 mths) is allowed on. Is it everything where there are no height restrictions?? (I was just thinking whether you are allowed them on your lap for things like peter pan, dumbo etc)????

thanks alot!!

We went 3 years ago with a 4 month old. Didn't fly Virgin, but the flight was fine. I breast fed her on take of and landing (and inbetween when she wanted) and it was fine. Disney facilities were fab! The baby centers are great and a lovely break for mum as well as baby. Nice rocking chairs in a quiet room for feeding (and getting away from the other kids!) changing areas etc, all air con of course.

We found people really helpfull off disney as well, restaurants were great with all the kids. I would do it again with a young baby, although we are going back next year as she doesn't remember much about the last time!

We took Little 'un for the first time when he was 3 months old.
Virgin supplied a skycot whic was great (apart from every time the seatbelt signs came on for turbulence etc, you have to take little 'un out the skycot and lock him in your lap belt)
No problems on the flight whatsoever.
We took a Slazenger Cricket kit bag (one of the large ones) which we put his bebe Confort tri wheeler frame and the bassinet, which we used to secure him in when travelling in the car as well, plus loads of nappies etc. this just goes in as oversized baggage.

In Florida, we kept him out the sun at all times, with the hood of the bassinet, an umberella, a mosquito net and a fan.

Sure it wasn't a "lets go to disney every day all day" holiday, but our holidays are never that anyway.
It was just a great restful holiday, with us taking him out when the sun was dropping and resting in tha apartment during the hot periods.

He now has no fear at all of flying and takes flights as a normal way of travelling

Yes anything without a restriction. I have been to DLP (when Evie was 10 months)and went on lots of things with lap bars, Peter pan and Snow white spring to mind. xxx

Thank you everyone for your replies. :thumbsup2

After reading what everyone had to say, it looks like they'll be going. I thought it would have been impracticable [shows how little I know] but i'm really glad they can go. :)

Thank you once again,
Lyndon.

A baby is allowed to fly 24 hours after birth, as long as there is no medical problems. We ask Virgin about this in 2005.
