Hi,

My mother, son and I will be flying Westjet from Vancouver to Orlando via Calgary this Saturday. We have never flown Westjet before does anyone have any advice? Should we bring food with us or is the stuff you can buy on board decent?

Cheers,

3 more sleeps...

I've never done any long hauls with West Jet but have flown them a few times . They are a riot (listen closley to their pretakeoff ramble...it's a littel different!). Those employees enjoy their job much more then other airlines. Service is great but bring food with you. The onboard meals don't go very far. I usually bring lots of snacks with me.

Have fun!

They are a lot of fun. (No bias here since they are based out of Calgary):thumbsup2 Sometimes they will load the plane depending on the colour of socks you have. I even saw them load the kids on first once and sang songs before the parents got on. Those willing of course! They even poke fun at their own snacks and inflight comments by the pilot and staff are always so funny! If it is long haul you will probably get the satellite tv on the back of each seat also! You will really enjoy your flight!

Bring your funny bone....West Jet is great! Have fun! S

I love West Jet, they have the best cancellation policy,tv's, they make flying as good as it can be. No airline I have ever flown has good food, we always bring snacks.

have to agree with the other posters! West Jet is fun and remember to listen to the pilot's take off speech! ;) Having the tv's are a huge asset, you can buy headphones for $1 (I think thats it, haven't flown since September) or you can use your own. I checked out WestJet, but for us it was better to use Spirit for this trip. Have fun and no worries :thumbsup2

Hi,

DH works for WJ, so I'm a little biased too :)

Anyway, just wanted to mention something on bringing snacks... Because you will be pre-clearing US customs, make sure that anything you bring to eat is not "fresh". ie. no fruit, no meat (like sandwiches). You would have to surrender those items when you go through US customs. You are allowed to bring anything processed (like cookies or chips).

Also, there are some places to eat once you cross through customs (like fast food etc.). That food is purchased "in the US" technically, so it is allowed to go with you. (yeah I know it doesn't make a lot of sense, but those are the rules)

As others mentioned, bring your own headset to save having to purchase a set. It is a standard walkman type headset plug in.

Even though some have mentioned that the crews tell a lot of jokes and play games, you may or may not have this happen. Some crews are good at this, and some aren't. They don't force the crews that aren't funny to try to be. Almost everyone is usually friendly and glad to help out with anything you might need.

Enjoy the flight and tell your friends. (DH is not just an employee, he's also an owner!)

My family & I are flying WestJet next Saturday from Toronto - Orlando & after reading all these great comments about the WestJet flight crew, I can't wait as we have never flown with them before.

:)

We haven't flown them to Orlando but came home from Victoria on WJ last month and had a very good experience. DS threw up all over DH about an hour before we landed and the flight attendants were very helpful with the cleanup.
