HI All,

I suppose I am not the only Mom (or Dad) that has a picky eater out there...

Can anyone let me know the rules about what kind of snacks I can or can not pack in our luggage?

Like for example... she will only eat Kraft cheese slices... no other brand... or Breton mini garden flavor crackers.... If they are in sealed and unopened packages and not fresh fruit do you think I can bring these??
Oh! Or craisins???

Thanks we are going on a cruise and I want to have a few faves for her for snacking....

Thanks for your feedback
Wanda

The crackers will be fine, the cheese is a no.

No cheese slices? Why?

I assume OP is talking about carry on snacks as I believe that you can pack anything within reason in your checked luggage. But for carry on I didn't think anything was off limits other than liquids/gels in containers over 100mls.

Oh boy, I sure know about traveling with a picky eater. We've always taken snack pack for mine when she was smaller. I would just pack enough for the flight, and we've never had a problem. But, I imagine if they find the cheese they will take it.

OP here, I was not thinking specifically about carry on... I wanted to pack a WHOLE unopened package of cheese slices and a whole unopened box of crackers in my CHECKED luggage.

The site above mostly shows what you can bring in the cabin if I am not mistaken??

*********EDIT

Thanks for the link it made me think to go to the US Customs and Border website where they allow you to post a question ...however it takes them 2-3 months to get back to you!!

Hopefully though this will answer some questions for other posters.

Don't cheese slices have to be refirgerated?

Carrying cheese, meat and produce across a border is a big no-no. Packaged, processed food is usually okay.

All those things will get through CATSA/TSA, but cheese is not allowed since you are crossing the US/Canada border - it is a customs issue not a security issue.

Also, technically, you cannot even take it on the flight, since you pre-clear customs/immigration in Canada (on most airlines).
