Flying Virgin from MAN

Hi.....we are flying VS MAN - MCO in Y (economy) for the first time in July.

I have read horror stories about long Y check in queues with VS and on the return journey hope to get round this problem by using DTD check in. How bad are the queues at MAN and does anyone know how long before the flight the MAN check in opens?

We have already reserved seats - those in rows 60+ on the AC side...2 rows of 2. Supposedly a bit more side room as the side configuration reduces from 3 to 2 seats at tail end of plane.

Just back. Flew with Virgin from Manchester. Got to airport approx 3.5hrs before departure time, queue fairly short, took 10 - 15 mins. Used DTD on return - excellent service, no queue but cost 5$ per person as not booked directly with Virgin

As we are staying overnight at the Crowne Plaza hotel (on airport) it won't be too difficult to get across to the terminal early....famous last words

I am also flying with Virgin in September. We live in warrington so i think we will leave here about 6 and that should get us there for around 6:30. Will the check still open at 6:30 even though the flights not till 10:25

I'm flying on that times flight also & have been advised by Virgin thats the check-in opening time.

Funnily enough, we've reserved 62A, 62C, 63A & 63C! If you're flying on the 21st, we'll see you there! (unlikely I know...)

Ian....I think we may habe been sitting on each others knees if we were also flying on 21 July We go out on 3 July and return on 24 July....so might bump in to you at one of he parks

Sorry for delayed reply. We flew 747 - 200 ( I think) operated by Icelandic Air, it's the only Virgin one flying out of Manchester to MCO.

I'd love to be there for the 4th July, but we're stuck with school holidays (teachers!).
Can't believe you can plan ahead so far Alex, Vistana next year...
Dw is insisting we give Florida a break for a year in 2005. I'm sure I'll wear her down...

Hi Ian.....this will be our second 4 July in US, but our first in Orlando. Previous time was in Williamsburg, Virginia during 1999 (I think) when the whole of the Eastern USA had a freak heatwave and temps over 100F daily We're looking forward to experiencing WDW on 4 July, but will probably give MK a miss on the day - possibly Epcot better for crowds. What you want to do to get over there for 4 July is move to Scotland....our summer hols are earlier

Believe it our not, we had Vistana 2005 booked last August. Despite spending my honeymoon there I'm looking forward to going back to this great resort for the third time:thewave: I'm sure you'll come up with dozens of good reasons why it must be Orlando 2005 for you

Certainly a good enough reason for me. Dw may put up some resistance though, moving so far from mil...
I think we went to a time share presentation back in 97 (our honeymoon) for Vistana, and were very impressed with it. Couldn't buy as inexperienced teachers (like we were then) are paid peanuts!!!
Already thought of some good reasons...
1) Universal annual passes are a whole $70 cheaper to renew than the usual price.
2) If we go before August 2005, we can make use of our current annual passes (which wont be activated until end of July 2004)
3) I hate France (which is where we're likely to end up!)
