I have a couple questions about what flys in the sky at DL and when.

I have seen Tinkerbell at DW and she basically goes down a zip line. But I think I remembered hearing the flying was more sophisticated at DL and that Dumbo flys also. When I was there in November, we watched the fireworks twice, but never saw anyone fly.

I was watching the HoJo Mattercam late at night in bed (I know, I am a little obsessed :rotfl2:) on my new smartphone. That is after checking the wait times on Mouse Wait for the 10th time that day (again, obsessed). It was about 10:45 or so California time, and I saw this light flying around the screen. Going from the Matterhorn and back to it. I thought I had imagined it, being so late, but I looked again another night and saw it also.

Is this just my phone doing weird things, or does something fly in the sky that late at night? Is the flying Tink or Dumbo just seasonal? Will I see anything fly when I am there Apr 29 - May 3.

Please clarify for me!! Thanks so much!!

I believe that Tinkerbell is almost always part of the fireworks. She will fly from the Matterhorn to the other side, then back and forth another time. But it is possible for the winds to prevent her from flying (the winds can be too strong for her to fly but still OK for the fireworks to go off).

Dumbo has been part of the Summer fireworks for the past two years and hopefully will be back again this summer.

During the Halloween fireworks, Zero will also fly as part of the show.

Tinkerbell flys from Matterhorn to the Castle in the begining of the Fireworks show at Disneyland for a good few miutes. It's actually pretty cool.

Dumbo does not fly during the fireworks but does on his ride :cutie:

During Magical, the specail fireworks that runs all summer Dumbo also flies, this started last summer to my knowlege.

In addition, for anyone who wonder why this would of been posted.

In the MK Tink flies across the hub. About from where the edge of the Plaza Inn and First Aid station are. So if Main street to the castle is 0 degrees. In the MK tink flies toward the castle at about 20 degrees and passed in front of the castle. In DL tink flies from about 90 degrees, off the Matterhorn, and passes behind the castle.

To answer your question specifically for your dates, you will see the fireworks show called "Remember, Dreams Come True" in which Tinkerbell flies (twice). It's more than a basic zipline, as she goes up and down and back and forth over the castle. It is more impressive than what you see at WDW during Wishes. We like Wishes, but RDCT is so much better. Many DISers agree that RDCT is their favorite of the four fireworks shows that DL does throughout the year. Hope you enjoy it. :thumbsup2

Just as skiingfast says, Magical is a summer nighttime firework event. Also Magical debut in 2009, this will be the third year that DL will be showing this firework show. Also Dumbo might not fly in the skies on a windy day.

Just as the pp said, RDCT will be running until May 22, than DL will be showing Magical on May 27th. RDCT is by far one of my favorite fireworks shows.

Ok. Let me see if I have this right. So Tinkerbell flies year round. So I'm not sure why I didn't see her at the Christmas time fireworks (cant remember the name). I don't think it was very windy, so I'm not sure why we didn't see her. And Dumbo only flys during the summer fireworks.

And I'm still not sure what I saw on my phone, cuz it would have been after the fireworks time, more like toward the end of Fantasmic time when I was watching it. hmm.

Good to know at least where and how Tink flys. Sounds really different than MK. I hope I get to see her this time!

No, Tink does not fly year round. She only flies in RDCT and Magical. The only time she doesn't fly in the sky is if it is very windy. Believe...In Holiday Magic is the Holiday fireworks during the Christmas season and it does not show Tink flying in the sky. Also Halloween Screams does not show Tink, but it does show Zero flying in the sky during the Halloween season.

It is easier to watch Tink flying at DL than at WDW MK where she flies from Cinderella castle towards the TL.
