I'm hoping to get in Group A and have a good selection of seats. Can anyone advise what seats are not good on SWA flights? I know that I don't want the last row because of the bathroom. Any other advice?
How long do we have to wait in line before they start boarding?
imo there are no "bad" seats on any plane taking you to wdw, but, there are a few things to consider... how many seats and who's travelling? are you all adults and can you sit in the emergency exit aisle? depending on the aircraft, the front seats may be three facing front w/two facing backwards, good for a family that wants to stay together but there are no drop down trays (to color on if kids are involved)... obviously nearer the front is better 'cause you are off the plane a whole 3 minutes sooner for us it's not that big a deal
here's how we like to sit and what we look for in a swa seat... we are two adults (mom/dad) and two kids (dd/ds) and dh is tall which means an aisle seat fits him best... kids like to look out the window, so we need some window seats... most of the aircraft we have been on are three seats (window/middle/aisle) the aisle and then three more seats (aisle/middle/window)... what works for us is dd takes the window seat, i get the dreaded middle (LOL), ds takes the aisle (he's the one that goes to the rest room a dozen times per flight!) and dh takes the aisle opposite ds so we're four in a row and all together yet comfortable and meeting everyone's needs... sometimes dh will get lucky and no one will sit next to him, which means a kid can pop over and be near him off and on or he can really stretch out and relax (while i entertain two kids mind you! LOL!)
anyway, like i've said in other posts, no one wants to sit next to your kids more than you do and most passengers will attempt to help accomodate you to make it work for your family!
It's just me (the Mom) and my three boys (12, 9 and 5). I was thinking of doing 5 year old, 12 year old, ME, space and 9 year old. Our flight is sold out so I'm sure someone will end up sitting between us. Maybe two and two would be better (as in I sit with 5 year old and the other 2 sit together right behind us).
I'm taking one carryon for the four of us so I'm not worried about that...just dreading standing there forever tomorrow with a 5 year old who will not be still.
i definitely don't recommend the two/two (front back) thing... it was a nightmare the time dh/i tried it and you really don't want a stranger next to your kids if you can help it... defintely go for the four across (3, space, 1) and you can mix/match who sits where as you go along... they can take turns looking out the window... even kid/kid/kid/space/mom would work... or if you get lucky you'll get that front grouping where five people can sit together and face each other (assuming you don't need the fold down trays)... whatever you do, i'm sure it will be great fun! ENJOY!
you may be eligible for pre boarding with the 5 year old....
ask the agent at the gate check in....it seems to be discretionary
that way you will not have to worry about seats since you will be in the first group boarding regardless of the "type" ....A B or C boarding pass you get

Pre-boarding is for under 5 on Southwest so that won't help you. Just print your boarding passes the morning you leave. As soon as people start lining up, then get in line. As long as you're in group A or B, you should be able to get seats together. You may have to move to the back a bit. Remember that the kids can't sit in the exit row seats, so skip those. The newer & renovated Southwest planes with the leather seats really have quite a bit of leg room and are quite comfy. Enjoy your flight & trip!
Hi, try going to www.seatguru.com! They have the different types of planes for each airline. There are recommendations for good seats, poor seats, etc. based on noise level, legroom, recline/don't and others.
We're doing this next Friday. I put the three kids in their own row and I take the seat across the aisle. I'm close enough to tend to everyone's needs and there won't be strangers sitting next to them.
