So we're trying to squeeze in one more trip with Dad after receiving a terminal diagnosis of 6-9 months last week
With a last minute flight, airfare is already sky-high, and the best deal (by roughly $600 each way) was Spirit. I hate that airline with a passion, but it's the only way we're going to pull this trip off.
My concern is that they now charge for overhead carry-on's. My dad has roughly 30 medications that he will need to bring with him, along with the possibility of a morphine pump. I know this isn't going to fit in his "small personal item" bag. Will they charge him for his medically necessary carry-on bag?
Also- he needs to be seated with at least one other member of our party to help with aisle transfers and support (he is prone to losing consciousness if he stands too quickly, especially after being seated for extended periods of time). Will we be charged for pre-purchase of seats for medical reasons?
I'd call their customer service, but to be frankly honest- it has been outsourced overseas, and every time I've called, I have hard a hard time getting a customer service rep on the phone that speaks fluent enough English to answer difficult questions.
