Just wondering - for those of you who fly Southwest out of Buffalo - when do you purchase your tickets?

Would you purchase them early - and get the $69 - 89 price (ie 6 months ahead)

or do you wait until there is a Ding?

thoughts???

Good question.

My general rule is to book it as soon as "my price" appears. ["my price" is a pre-thought of comfy price] If "my price" is $59 and $69 comes up, I'd likely book the $69. However, if "my price" is $59 and $99 comes up, I'd wait.

We planned to drive to WDW March 2007, however, $59 came up and I booked it....I think it was Dec06 or Jan07 when we booked.

I was considering going July07 [now] when in May07 [the week between Victoria Day and Memorial Day] $34 came up on an email special with Southwest.

In the past, I seem to book about 100 days before the trip. S

I will usually book when the flights are released, if the price seems reasonable (anything uner $89 or so). And I always book each leg seperately, that way if a ding comes up, or if the price goes down on one leg, I'm not stuck if the price has gone up on the other. I faithfully watch the dings and cancel/rebook at lower rates. SW doesn't charge you anything to do this, and the credit is good up to a year from the original purchase date. We always have another trip in the wings, or if not then usually a co-worker does and we'll trade/buy credits off eachother to make sure they get used within the year.

Plus it's always easier to book another trip when you have a credit that has to be used!!!:thumbsup2

grab the seat when you can get them..if the price drops you get a credit..we do it all the time..

We waited until 5 weeks before our vacation, but in hindsight, that was probably cutting it too close. We got $59/ticket, but if it had been a busier time of year, it's quite possible that the flights would've been booked up by then.

I booked in May to go in Aug. booked 9 people and on the way down paid 69 x 4 and 175.00 x 5 and on the way back paid 69 x 9 only because I waited a couple of extra days when I should not have.........but hey still alot cheaper then flying out of Toronto ..........

Leaving in 11 days:cool1:

WE dont book in advance, there are always specials except maybe peak weeks(easter, xmas etc) I always found they dropped for the times we looked at.
