I am getting ready to buy southwest airline tickets for travel 12/27. It is full price (refundable price) 176.00 one way. SW is 99.00 on the return. Total 275.00 plus taxes and fees. should I buy them now or wait for a sale? This is our first time with SW. Delta is about 75.00 more per ticket. I would appreciate any opinions as I think I should hurry and secure tickets. Thanks!

I'm going thru the same thing as you are. SW is higher my flight down on 12/18 and cheaper for my return on 12/23. My total for 4 tickets would be $1014. Not that great but for $200 more I can get a earlier flight down and later flight back with Song.

I have been checking the flights just about daily and prices have not changed since early July with Song. Hoping they go down as they are what I prefer, but saving $200 to go with SW is hard to pass down also.

Not sure where you live here in Connecticut but I have seen the prices for my time go down to $75 each way with Song out of LGA. The price has dropped within the past week.

No clue though if prices will go down. I'm just sitting here hoping they do.

Thanks mazzarafe! I'm leaning towards buying the tickets today. I think they may come down in price but I will just get a credit at SW if they do. BTW, I'm from Woodstock!

Buy your tickets! SW has a policy that if the price goes down and you can show them, they will credit you the difference after you fly! Just save your boarding passes and then send copies and a letter to customer service. (I just did this) Our tickets went down a total of $120 and I called SW to see about taking credit for the flights and rebooking and the very nice SW rep told me that re booking was unecessary!:D :D

Muffy ~ I would buy the tickets!! I am going down in Feb. over Pres. week and the price for a R/T ticket on Delta (SWA hasn't come out with their pricing for that week yet) and the price was $611.00 (non-stop)  I almost fell through the floor. I am really considering driving, but in Feb. that could be very dangerous (hope we don't have a winter like last year).

While that price is not cheap, don't expect rates to come down during the holiday season. No one likes to pay more , but that price is not terrible. All the real cheap seats for the holidays are long gone. We are going the same time and bought seats 6 months ago.

DVC guy, Southwest just released December. You certainly didn't buy SW tickets for Xmas 6 mos ago?!
