Hey, I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to share what they've been paying for flights from Baltimore to Orlando in comparison to what they paid in the past. The last 2 years, we flew for 50 or 60 bucks a person, which I know we were lucky to get. I know the prices fluctuate, but I'm trying to figure out if 80 bucks a person is about as good as it will get or if I should be patient and try to save a little bit.

I guess I should add we usually fly SW, but we are flexible there too. Airtran hasn't been any better from what I've seen.

We had a DING in January (booked in the fall sometime) for $59 BWI to MCO and $79 MCO to BWI. So my family of 4 flew for about $550.

Other times, we have paid closer to $1000 for the 4 of us - in the summer.

Are you talking about one-way prices excluding tax?

yeah, last year we had 49 one way before tax going down, and I think 54 coming home. This year they are hovering around 80 dollars one way. I'm not counting on 50 again, but if I could get 59 or 69 that would be great.

 If you don't mind divulging...what month are you traveling. How could I have missed this Ding...I check them EVERYDAY (....well, clearly I missed a day somewhere). Maybe I have my parameters set wrong (but I have gotten Dings that list flying out of Baltimore as well as flying out of Orlando so I thought that's what I needed)? How did I miss this?!!! I've seen NOTHING for BWI to MCO (or vice versa) since booking in Dec. for our June/July trip.

And here I am waiting, thinking, 'it's coming, it's coming' since Dings, right now, are for travel through March 31st. I'm heartbroken I missed this Ding!!! :sad2:

Oh, and to the original poster:

Our last (& only trip) to Orlando was Aug. 2005. I booked 8 departure tickets on 3/28/05 at $74 each (not including taxes/fees). Half our party returned home 2 days early but I booked the returns on 4/5/05 at $72.50 each.

On 6/14/05 a sale must have come out (it wasn't a Ding!) and I rebooked both departure & returns at $49 each! If you could have seen me running around my house, with my family looking at me like I was crazy...well, you get the jist :lmao: !

I do not expect the same deals, 5 yrs. later, but it would be nice. But I'm not expecting it.

Right now, I have our departure tix booked at $107 and I'd be happy to be able to rebook them for ANYTHING under $100 (of course I'd LOVE it if this were lower). The returning flight we'd like, right now, is at $147 :scared1: , and I just CAN'T book it at this rate.

I'm praying...and waiting. Good luck!

My trip is over - it was 1/22 - 1/31, but as I said the DING was offered back in the fall. I just checked my e-mail folder - looks like I booked it on September 3 - same day the DING came out and I still missed $59 on the return trip by the time I booked. You're right, I haven't seen much going on lately for BWI to MCO.

Not to make you feel bad (to the PP) but we went last June and the June before (so 2008 and 2009) and paid over $1000 for 4 of us both times.

I've been watching since just before Christmas. $65 is the cheapest since then. We are going March 16. I've seen it jumping from $67 to $77 and back since beg of Jan.

I ended up going with Airtran. I believe it was $69 going down and $70 coming back excluding tax & stuff. Southwest was like $127 a person\and would have ended up being about $450 more so we went with Airtran and booked through Kayak so we could choose our seats for free. We are going in July!

thanks for the replies. It looks like we might be able to hold out and get a little better than 80 dollarsper person each way. We usually go from Tuesday-Tuesday so that helps us get cheaper flights. I'll keep watching over the next month or so and see what happens.

IMO any one-way per person fare under $100 (including taxes/fees) to Orlando from BWI or any other northeast airport (DCA, PHL, EWR, etc) is great. Sure, even better if you can find a lower fare, but $80 is very reasonable.

You can always book to keep the $80 rate then use SW's credit if you find it cheaper. You have one year from date of BOOKING to use the credit. I usually book BWI to MCO and then MCO to BWI separately. That way if one lerg comes cheaper I don't lose my rate on the other leg.

We're flying Southwest down in April (BWI) and just booked a few days ago---traveling on a Tuesday and returning on Friday we paid $$69 each way.

Did you go last year around that time? Do you remember what the prices were? I'm trying to figure out in general how much more the fares will be.

No, this year we're going in April whereas last year we went in Feb. We only went then because I got a good SW deal and a pin code for the hotel. I totally understand getting the best value you can even if you have to wait for it. Good luck!!
