After what seems like years of me telling my husband that lots of Canadians fly out of Buffalo to Orlando for really good rates the lightbulb finally went on but only after he spoke to a guy at work that does it all the time. Now he is thinking that we should take a week in February to go to WDW and he was asking about any deals for flights and accommodations. My head is spinning. I'm trying not to get too excited because this is just at the idea stage but I can't help the butterflies in my stomach!

Well, I'm sure everyone will chip in with their comments about cheap-o airfares... was looking at SWA the other day and a lot of the flights are booked for stuff like weekend travel, except for the pricier seats, but generally, the $79 seats seemed to be still available, again, depending upon when you want to go. You could possibly book anyways and hope for a seat sale or Ding sale if SWA is your option. Don't forget other airlines fly out of BUF... they just don't come to mind right now. :)

If you fly, then try the Magical Express if you can live without a rental car, and it'll save you $100-$150. The internal transport is great, imo.

There also seems to be a definite price boost on on-site accomodations around the end of the first week or so (not a buck or two either), so you may want to do some accomodation shopping on their site first to see what you want.

I'd think once you got the two important bits together, then the rest is a breeze.

Jim.

Just priced out our tickets at SW (which we love) and AirCanada - SW: $160 US, Tango:$560 CAN per person. Great airport, nice staff, incredible parking rates. The only drag is that long drive home when the trip is over. Our family will be saving $1600 by flying from Buffalo this March.

DD and I flew out of Buffalo for the very first time last weekend! Thanks to the $49.00 flights we were able to do MNSSHP!

You should have seen the look on Canadian Customs Guy's face when I told him we flew down to Florida for the Weekend! :rotfl2:

It was so easy! Only one problem, too much time for shopping in Buffalo! I think that is where my savings got blown! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I would not hesitate to recommend flying out of Buffalo!

Don't forget to factor in the time and money to drive to Buffalo and back. It might be worth it if you're going with a bunch of people, but if it's just two, it might not be worth it.

Go to www.expedia.ca and compare prices flying from Toronto to Florida and Buffalo to Florida.

I used to think like that! :rotfl: Especially since I never got the great prices!

If you can get DING FAREs or even close to, definately worth your time driving!

Got my cc bill and with the exchange and the cc's percentage it worked out to $139.19! That's less than what the taxes are on most flights out of Pearson!

But yes, check all factors concerned!

We always fly out of Buffalo and have always booked through Expedia.ca but recently found the DING program that you can download at http://www.southwest.com It alerts you to sales out of Buffalo

Another person also alerted me to the fact that there are three other flights that fly out of Buffalo with low prices and they don't use Expedia. I believe they are Independance, JetBlue and one other one... but try their individual websites as well!

Good luck! :wizard:

I just priced a flight with JetBlue in early December and their price is a whopping $2,416.80 USD and Southwest for the same dates is $692.40 and that is non stop! (6 people)
I will stick with SW. I had no problems with flying out with SW this year.. give them a try, you will be happy you did.

Just for fun I priced Air Canada, and they are $2509.50 CAD :rotfl2:

My husband and I will be flying out of Buffalo this weekend on SWA. We compared the prices and found that it would have been close to $1000 CAD from Pearson to MCO for the two of us on the days we wanted to travel - but it cost us $285 CAD total for both of our non-stop, return tickets! Anytime you can save over $500 is a good day to me :)

My family of four will be flying out of Buffalo the first week of December. We're paying $388 total US for the four of us for a non-stop return flight. Pearson would have been around $1800 CAD for the same dates. We going down the day before and staying at Holiday Inn Express ($114 US) where we can leave our van for the week. This is saving us sooooooo much $, plus we get a hot breakfast in the morning, a shuttle to the airport, and don't have to get up as early!! :cool1:

MaryannF - I think you would be making a wise decision to fly out of Buffalo. This cheap airfare is the only reason we were able to go in December. Good luck with the planning.

Another SWA fan here. I have Feb 8-15 booked on SWA for $79 - total for 3 of us around $520. I am hoping to snag a $49 (last Feb we managed to get a $29 but that's pretty rare). We drive from Toronto (scarb.) and it's about 2 hrs to get from our door to one of the airport hotels. We fly out early (around 7am) and usually stay over the night before. We love SW and find the whole boarding pass, flight, airport process to be painless. I was doubtful back in Feb '05 when we first flew - the savings were over $500 and I figured it was too much of a good thing and there must be a catch - but there really isn't - it's just a WAY better deal. Also, you don't have to clear customs in the airport - you take care of that when you drive across the border. We have always cleared the border in about 10 mins max and then hit Duty Free. For us it is really painless and we won't go any other way. I have to fly to Sault Ste Marie this weekend on Jazz out of Pearson, and for the cost of that I probably could have gone to WDW x3!! :confused3

The other airline out of BUF is Airtran. You have to connect through Atlanta, but it's not a problem.
You can also register for sales at www.airtran.com

But you can get some great deals with JetBlue, and it has just been rated one of the top three airlines in the US by Zagat. Unlike Southwest, you can pick your seats ahead of time (for free), they have more legroom, leather seats, and Direct TV at each seat.

We paid $59 each way to Orlando from Buffalo for our trip December 8. The total, for three adults, was $571 Canadian including taxes.

Looking for SWA fares out of Buffalo for Nov. 30th (Departure) and Dec. 10th (Return), 2006. When I can I expect these fares to be released?

They are available right now up until March at $79 - you just missed a $49 sale last weekend. Not sure if they will have another before you have to purchase but usually you have to buy 14 days in advance to get that deal so at this date I might just go ahead and book - $79 is still a great price.

I am looking for the same time frame (Dec 7- 15) I think they got released Late July or early August this year.

I don't believe they came out until September of this year. You can look at www.flyertalk.com to see if they say when they were released.
