We have booked our MYW package (+parkhopper and dining and incl) and are trying to decide whether to drive (would rather not) or fly. From checking prices it seems much cheaper to fly from Buffalo (best airlines, when to book?). Do most people who fly from Buffalo stay over night in a hotel (would prefer that)? any suggestions? Also for those of you who have flown out of Buffalo, do you drive then park (if there a pak and fly like in Toronto cost per day?) or do you take the bus?
REALLY NEED some advice. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there shaycamp21,

We flew out of buffalo on Southwest last June and will be doing the same thing this trip in Feb. The flights out of YYZ (Toronto) are so expensive, so we looked into Southwest. Last June we booked our seats at $49 USD each way per person and this time we booked at $29 USD per person each way which is fabulous (376 USD for 5 return). We booked our flight in Dec. for the Feb. trip. We drive in the day before and stay at a hotel in the area that has park n' fly. Our flight is at 7:30 am so we have to stay in a hotel. The hotel with park n' fly is $90 USD. We stayed there last year, the hotel was great, gave us a great breakfast before we left and dropped us off right in front of SWA. We called them to pick us up and they did so promptly and dropped us to our van. This was easy and the most efficient and cost effective way to travel. We live in the Durham area so it takes about two hours to get into Buffalo. Hope that is helpful to you,

We also flew Southwest airlines and will never again go from Toronto until we have no choice! It was the most stress free experience.....we stayed at the Comfort Suites the night before and enjoyed their pool (with some cheap US beer) and had a great nights sleep. You clear customs at the bridge so the only thing you need to deal with in the airport is security.
It was wonderful - if we weren't driving this year I would most certainly do it again!

Have Fun!

We flew from Buffalo twice. Once on SWA and once on JetBlue. SWA, the price was right but JetBlue was awesome. Personal TV for every seat

We never stayed onvenight in Buffalo, since our flights left in the evening, but I hear you can get a hotel for about the same price it costs to park you car.

Good luck.

We flew out of BUF last month and loved it. The airport is quite compact (compared to Toronto). We stayed at the Comfort Suites at 901 Dick Rd. for $89US the night before. That includes shuttle both ways, a nice room, pool , hot tub, parking for up to 2 weeks and a great breakfast the morning of the flight.

We will definately fly out of BUF again. We flew with a newer airline (Independence Air) and they were great but do not offer non-stops to Orlando. Next time we hope to fly Southwest since they offer non-stops to Orlando.

Have fun planning.

To park at the Buffalo airport for 1 week is not too expensive, I think it cost $48US at the preferredlong term which is very close to the terminal. We end up parking right beside the garage each time we go. Its a great place to fly out of. Go to the Buffalo Airport Website and it lists exactly the price per week and day to park. We as well will never fly from Toronto again.

We really like flying out of Buffalo partially because the airport is so easy to navigate compared to Pearson. It has one smallish terminal yet has food, services etc and is layed out well. Of course the real reason I like Buffalo is that it is so much cheaper than flying out of T.O. My only concern is that lake effect snow that can cause almost white out conditions there while the sun is shining in Toronto! People ask me why do I travel so far to fly out of BUF but when you consider the traffic we have to fight the majority of the time to get from my house just west of Milton Ont to Pearson it can be a close call as to how much time it actually takes to travel to either airport. It sounds like such a big deal until you do it and then it is a breeze!

We also flew SW in Sept 04. $580 US for the 4 of us all adult fares. We spent the night before at Holiday Inn Express nice rooms and pool we could watch the planes take off but it wasn't nosey less then $100 US for the hotel and they kept our van for 15 days no extra charge. There was a shuttle to take you across the street but when we came home I stayed with the luggage and hubby just ran across the street to get our van. Airport is very small compared to Toronto so easy to get around.

We are planning on driving when we go in Oct but will watch SW for cheap flights. We booked in the summer some time for our Sept flight but I watched daily and when the flights came down in price they adjusted our price and gave us a refund.

I have considered JetBlue for the TV cause I hate to fly but they didn't seem to have direct flights....I could be wrong but I couldn't find any.

Good luck

Thanks for all the info. It sounds great and sooooo much cheaper!!! I guess we'll have to book April/May for August or is it cheaper to book closer to the date?

When my husband and I are on business we sometimes fly out of Buffalo, however lately with border delays and now with weather we have decided to fly out of Pearson for our February trip. Our flight is out at 9:30 am and we live about 1 1/2 hours west of TO so we are going to spend the night near the airport so we do not have to get up so early as fight morning traffic to get in (and we are also at the mercy of weather).

Yes flights are generally cheaper out of Buffalo however sometimes it's hard to get a direct flight and we want to get down to florida a.s.a.p.

I guess you need to weigh the pros and cons
