Is airfare much more expensive when traveling Sunday morning and returning Friday evening? Or is it just that airfare is more expensive now because of fuel costs? Also, we're not flying until next July 10th, and I can't get quotes on some of the airlines that far out. TIA for any answers/advice.

I wouldn't buy airfare this far out. First, the flight times will change at least twice between now and then. Next, some carriers will likely not even exist between now and then. And last, there are sure to be fare sales.

Depends on the airline. Some require a Saturday night stayover to get the best price. Others (SWA, Song) don't require that, so the price is theoretically the same every day of the week. Sometimes Sunday flights get booked up because people are ending their trip, but if you're flying TO Disney on a Sunday, that may not be an issue.

Generally speaking, and excluding considerations of holidays and special events, Friday after 5 and Sunday after noon are usually the most expensive times to fly domestically in the US.

Really cheap fare categories are often available only on Tues, Wed, and Saturday, so if you're seeing great ads but can't find the fares, that's probably why.

I also think you are buying WAY too early for a date that isn't on a major holiday weekend. I think you would have much better luck starting about 4 months out from your travel date.

Sheri,

I see you are in South Jersey. Me too. I'm in Bellmawr. I fly out of Philly and had a hard time finding a direct flight to MCO. I don't want to risk booking a flight with US Air. Try Air Tran out of Philly. They just released dates thru the beginning of June. And most flights are $79 each way.

Hi Sheri, (I'm a Sheri too! Spelled the same way too! :) )

Sunday is usually the most expensive day of the week to fly. I don't think it has much to do with fuel costs, I've always noticed it.

Try Jet Blue or Southwest if you can. Both of them usually have good rates.
