When flying in an out of the US, we have to pre register our passport numbers with the airlines. After Disneyland we will be flying to Florida. Is there any pre registration of passports needed or do I just show up with my ticket and passport?

Ticket and Passport. It is safe to fly within the US. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You don't even need to show ID as you board the plane just your boarding pass once you're through security! It's very weird (at least to this Canadian girl who required picture ID or two pieces of non-picture government ID to board any flight even within Canada)

Thanks for the info. Looks like I am good to go! 16 days......

Once you've pass through customs or border patrol you shouldn't need a passport to travel between states. It's true that you don't need ID to fly domestically, but you need to submit yourself to secondary screening. It will be easiest just to show your passport and boarding pass at the checkpoint, but you shouldn't need to provide your passport number for a domestic flight. This article has a list of other acceptable ID:
