Do you think we will be able to make an 11:45 am flight home out of Miami without a lot of stress?

I would say if you do the walk off service they offer where you take your own bags and you get off as soon as the ship is cleared then you could make it. I think its 30 mins from the port and depending on how long before your check in is you should be fine. Personally I would go for later if you can though but its doable for flights where you don't have to check in 3 hours before the flight.

The Miami airport is about 6 miles from the port, so as long as nothing extraordinary happens with the ship docking, your flight time will be just fine.

a bit off topic, but how are you getting from the ship to the airport...we will have a tight connection in Nov. and am looking for transportation options that are not too expensive

Well, we decided to fly into Ft Lauderdale because it saved us several hundred $$$$ and our flight home isn't until 3. Now I have to figure out how to get to/from Miami from the airport-especially since our flight doesn't get in until nearly midnight. I know that isn't ideal but it is just my husband and I, it will only feel like 11 pm to our bodies and it means I can work a full day on the day we fly out (I am self employed so that is a big deal to us).

What did you decide? How are you arranging your days?

We are doing something similar in November. We are taking a flight that will arrive in Ft Lauderdale after midnight 2 nights before our cruise and planning to just stay cheap and easy (clean, half comfortable bed is all I ask) on that night, but was thinking we'd go to Miami for that second night so we'd be close to port. Not sure how to make arrangements for transportation to Miami or best plan for returning to FLL either.

Taxi to the airport will be a flat rate of $27.

Flat taxi rate per taxi. If no larger taxis are available, you might need two depending on the amount of luggage.

11:45 is fine...
I never get pixidust, so I want to share !! We are cruising the Thanksgiving cruise out of Miami. I booked out of NYC area for $300 to FLL. Flying into Miami was $1000!!! United changed my flight time! I called and they moved all 9 of us to a BETTER flight time in and out of MIA for the same price!!

FWIW... we usually use Steve (SAS transport) from FLL to POM. I had to cancel him, but thrilled United honored the $300 for 9 people!!!!
