Flying HAPPY DANCE!!!

Back in Jan...due to high airfare and the need to purchase 6 tickets we decided to take the Auto train...6 ppl plus van cost $1123.....I've continued to check airfare but it has done nothing but gone up averages about $330 from Philly right now...

BUT this morning I decided to check again and do all combos with all airlines I could think of to and from ALL airports I'd fly out of ...

Well, I found Southeast air (I had checked before) ....Allentown, PA (flown from here before and love it) to St. Petersburg, FL ( never flown into but the drive is about 1.5hrs to orlando)..... Price was a whopping $131 per person...YIPPPEEEE.......

So, we are flying into St. Pete renting a van $100 for the day (then we can go grocery shopping for the week); renting a car during the second week $40 (to do more grocery shopping); Renting a van again for the return trip $70; staying overnight in St. Pete $75 ( early morning flight home.....Grand total $1071

So, we save $52 dollars and get there alot sooner...

I'm sooo excited...would have loved to try the train but I really enjoy flying....

Good for you! I'm carting 8 adults to WDW next March and I'll be trying your plan when buying air tickets.

I figure time wise it really wasn't too bad...

Driving to allentown...pretty close to the same as driving to philly...but a much easier airport to get around....Flying direct into St. Pete not too bad... I drove over from Tampa last year and it took 55 mins...all highway and St. Pete airport is about 30mins further...and I'm sure it's a lot easier to get in and out of compared to MCO...another time saving proceedure...

and besides with the cost of flights lately I'm willing to do a litttle creative flying/driving..

I've known a couple of people who have flown Southeast and had no complaints...so I'm up for a challange...
