Flying Frontier with a booster seat

I have flights booked with Frontier. DD probably won't be heavy enough for the BumbleBum, so thinking we'll need to bring the lightweight booster we use for travel. In the past, we've put it in a big beach bag or a carry-on suitcase. So - since it costs to do carry-on on Frontier, what are my free options?

I know that car seats can be checked for free, so probably the booster in the beach bag checked would work? Not sure if I should be worried about it getting crushed under other luggage though.

Would I be able to carry-on the booster in the bag for free and not have it count as a personal item?

I'm guessing probably the booster in the carry-on suitcase for free is not going to fly.

I fly frontier fairly often. You can gate check strollers and car seats (including boosters) for free as with most airlines. If you take it on the plane it would either need to be small enough to count as a personal item and go under the seat in front of you (dimensions allowed are 8x18x14 but we've managed to go a little above this without issue) or you would pay to have it as a carry on.

Gate-check items go on top (and sometimes in a smaller subcomparment, depending on the aircraft style), so you needn't worry about crushing. If you put it in a bag, you will probably want to put a large label on the bag that says CARSEAT-DELIVER TO GATE, because otherwise anything that looks like a bag is likely to be sent to the carousels.

Thank you for the advice! I will gate-check with either no bag or a clear bag. We have one that came with another car seat that might work.
