hi all,

I predict this non-Delta strike, non-ME, non SWA, non-"which is the best limo co" question will get buried before it gets a reply, but here goes anyway...

We are driving to Manchester the night before our flight, staying at the Sheraton 4 Points Manchester. We will be in Orlando for 11 days. Is there any reason to leave my car at the Sheraton Manchester (and use their shuttle to MHT) rather than at the airport? Price is about equal. And we are NOT staying there on our way back to Maine.

I know it is a dreadfully boring question. Someday I will start a rip roaring thread, I promise!

I admit that I'm not an expert about leaving a car at Manchester airport, but you do leave the car a ways away from the airport and then have to take a shuttle which can be a pain. Also, to pay to park your car, you must pay cash (no debit/cc cards) which after a long trip you might have forgotten to set aside (of course I'm sure that there are ATMs in the airport, but sometimes you just want to get the heck out of there). Just a couple things that come to mind :)

Thank you jjen, that does help. Looks like we may as well leave the car at the hotel.

I'm quite certain we've paid our parking fee in the past at MHT with cc/debit cards...is this something new?? We'll be flying later this month and I was planning on using a cc.

If the cost is pretty much the same to park at MHT vs the hotel I would park at MHT. We've done the shuttle thing before with a park and fly hotel (Tage Inn) and we would have been on our way home a little quicker had we been parked at the airport. JMO, of course!!

We had to pay cash also in February for parking at MHT. That could have been a problem since I told my friend I would pay for her car too and I figured the amount incorrectly and almost didn't have enough cash. Also if you do park at MHT make sure you make a note of where you left your car. I know it sounds dumb but we had no idea where the heck our car was. After a long week and a long day of traveling we got on the shuttle and the driver asked where our car was and we said "in the parking lot" :confused3 She said which parking lot so we said "uh. . long-term?" :confused3 Guess what there is more than one. We got a tour of the parking lots while searching for our car in the correct lot. My DH said they should name them . . . we could tell them where we parked our car at Disney all week Minnie 23, Unicorn, etc. but that made a long freezing night a little longer. Have a great trip! :wizard:

We were planning on staying at that hotel in August, it's now a Holiday Inn, so this question may not even apply, but did you have to call the hotel for the shuttle to come and get you and did it take a long time?

Yes, we did. If I recall the shuttle arrived about 15-20 minutes after we called.

No such thing as a boring question - at least that's what I tell myself when I post a question :teeth: :teeth:

...and I can never think of anything rip-roaring :confused3

Just happy to be here, I guess!!
LOL!!

Thanks Jeanne, we're hoping to get the 7:15am out of MHT with Southwest and that would be so early if we had to add the hour drive from MA, so we're thinking of staying the night before near the airport. :)

This is what I was afraid of. We are getting in pretty late and face a four hour drive home. I hate the idea of standing around in the airport waiting for the hotel shuttle.

Thanks for the helpful replies everyone!

emmabelle - We've left Maine before at 4:00 in the morning for a late morning flight and it sure makes for a long day. The Tage Inn has always received good reviews and I'm sure it's just as nice now that it's a Holiday Inn. The indoor pool is a plus (although we checked in too late to use it) and I think I remember a co-worker saying there's a nice restaurant in the Holiday Inn now.

mainebound - I know what you mean. Granted, it's only a 15 minute wait for the shuttle but at least if we can jump on the airport shuttle right away we're at least making progress. We have about a 3-1/2 hr drive and getting out of the airport 15 minutes sooner is 15 minutes sooner that we're home!! (or 15 minutes extra I have to spend at LL Bean on the way home :teeth: )
