Flying from Logan Airport to DW

Has anyone from the Boston area flown from Logan Airport to Orlando recently? If you did, how was it? Was it a hassle at the airport? Have Delta tickets to Orlando end of December to spend 6 days at DW with family, but I dread going...not looking forward to it at all... Is it really necessary to get to the airport 3 hours in advance - with my flight at 9:30, we'll be at the airport around 6:00am...

I flew out for 10 days in the beginning of Oct and as expected, security was very tight. Finally! It was impressive to see all of the different armed forces with all that hardware. Kind of scary for the little ones but I know it made me feel safer. Delta has curb-side check in so you should be okay. Still get there 2 hours before departure. Have a great trip!

we flew in the a.m. Columbus day weekend, b4 they had the one carry-on rule, so the lines at the metal detectors were ridiculous. However, as your flight time got close, they pulled you out of line and up to the front to go thru. I only saw one man get told he would have to re-book, and he was just showing up in the luggage check line about a half hour before his flight, so I would say it was his own fault. I would call Delta, but my impression is that if you show up 2 hours before your flight, you will be fine. We were on American, not Delta, by the way. Hope this helps!

I just got back (10/26-10/30). We flew out on the Delta Express flight at 7:00am. Got to the airport at 5:00am and there was already a lengthy line. There was a separate check-in for the Delta Express flights set up at the TWA counter so check before getting in line at the regular Delta counter. It took us the full 2 hours to get through the check-in, grab a quick breakfast and go through security line. And that was for a 7:00 flight! Plan accordingly!

I just had four friends come visit me, flying out of Logan to FL.(Delta express) Two flew in the morning & said they had tight security, long lines, got there about two hours early with only about 20 minutes to spare. the other two said it was just as usual, got there early for their evening flight but had over an hour before their flight after going through security.
