Flying from DTW to DL what airline/airport

This was inspired by the thread asking about what airline/airport from NJ. My friend I will be in DLR either Sept 16-23 or 17-24, (depending on airfares) and would love some advice as to which airline to fly and what airport to fly to? It's our first time there, so we don't know what the usual airfare there IS, and have been doing some searching, but wanted to ask here in the meantime. The cheapest we found was Spirit and that's $103. Will the fares go down closer to travel dates? I sure hope so, because $300-400 round trip sounds awful high, then again, Southwest doesn't have it's fares out yet, and we've never been to CA!!

Any advice would be wonderful!!
