Flying Fish, Yachtsman or Cape May Cafe for dinner?

Four of us ( myself, wife and two kids under 4)

we like fish and steak equally.

Never did eat @ CMC, but the price for that to me is better used at another buffet...
FF Is very good/excellent so u can't go wrong, but to me YS is a definite step up....Just me saying...It's a very nice dining experience, and if price isn't an issue than I'd suggest there.:confused3

Either route u go, I'm sure will be a good one, Enjoy

Thanks so much for the feedback :)

All are really good.

CMC is buffet with a pretty good selection. We go there the first night of each of our trips. We're usually exhausted and don't want a long dining experience, so a buffet fits the bill :) . But, when my kids were much younger buffets can be a bit challenging. That's a long of plates to carry or trips to make as Mom & Dad take turns getting food.

The others are more refined dining. I'd probably recommend the Yachtsman a bit more, but don't make your ADR too late. The meal will take a little while. For adults, it's a nice pace. But, for kids its probably better if they aren't too tired.

That's just my experience with small kids. Maybe yours are dining veterans, though.

We really like Yachtsman and are trying Flying Fish our next trip. I absolutely would not eat at Cape May--we have three seafood lovers and two meat lovers in our family and the seafood was not good and the non-seafood options largely inedible (well, at least not good). If you go for the crab legs then it might be worth it, but that's about it. The food will be a huge step up in quality at either Yachtsman or FF.

Cape May is half the price point, so it's not a level comparison. I'd go with FF of the three as the pork belly app and steak are great there for red meat lovers.

You can’t compare CMC with the flying fish or yachtsmen. Flying fish and yachtsmen are more upscale and a higher price point. Cape May to me is more laid back, less expensive, more quantity but less quality. I enjoy cape May and usually eat there towards the end of the trip. Yachtsmen if they don’t get the meal right, cooked properly and it happens, costs a lot and can be disappointing if that happens. FF has great quality but not has much quantity and expensive so it depends what is important to you.

Just back from a 14 night stay at BC, we ate in the Yachtsman for my 50th birthday on 01/03 and tbh we were disappointed with the steaks!! I had the ribeye and DW had the NY strip and both were very fatty, we’ve eaten here in the past and had excellent steaks.
We ate in Jiko at AK and the Boathouse in Disney Springs and had superior steaks at both establishments..
We ate at FF last year and the food was very good there, personally I hated the smell from CMC every night, I appreciate it’s a buffet so food is being turned over but it smelt overt ‘fishy’ to me!

With two toddlers, would definitely go with Cape May. It is more casual and laid back with delicious seafood and non seafood dishes and a section catered to the littles. It's a must do enjoyable dinner for us - have never been disappointed in our many visits there.

We're not buffet fans so I can't speak to Cape May at all but Flying Fish and Yachtsman are both fabulous. If I had to choose it would likely be Flying Fish as they have steak options if you want that and more importantly their seafood selections are divine. Plus I think it is the most beautiful restaurant on property. Yachtsman steaks are delicious, but they've fallen a bit in recent years IMO. The filets at Jiko and Shulas have eclipsed it for me now. And we've had my daughter at both restaurants since she was 2 so the kiddos will fit right in at either.

i would do Flying Fish. They do steak and fish very well.
Not sure Yachtsman does fish as well.

Let's see how to word this... Both Yachtsman and Flying Fish are, individually, great at steak and seafood; respectively. Yachtsman's seafood offerings are ... pretty good and the same can be said for Flying Fish's steaks. But ... IMO... Yachtsman does steak better than Flying Fish does fish. If everyone enjoys steak and seafood equally, then Yachtsman is a better choice. If you really need to split the difference, I like Boathouse.

Flying Fish is one restaurant I try to get to on every trip. Yachtsman is every 5 years or so. CMC in my opinion is one of the least impressive buffets around.

I have eaten at all three

Flying Fish, no question would be my first choice.

Yachtsman I would go to again.

Cape May is mediocre seafood. I have tried it a few times and now the only time I go is with my in-laws. I don't mind buffets, I just don't think Cape May is good.

With little ones, Cape May will likely be the more relaxed, easy environment for you. Buffet style has always been helpful for us when our 3 were young like that. You can pace the meal yourself, there's lots of up and down and it keeps them busy. Lots of choices and variety and you can be in and out as quickly or leisurely as you like (or need) to be.

However, kids are welcome all over WDW and if you are really interested in having quality food and don't mind a more adult/upscale vibe, you could try Yachtsman or Flying Fish. Check menus and see which appeals to you. I have enjoyed both but give Yachtsman the slight edge. My kids also enjoyed Yachtsman.

Thanks all. Great feedback

Have always enjoyed Yachtsman. Flying Fish is great too. We have been to both with younger children and had a great experience.
I personally cannot stand to even walk by Cape May after breakfast (and we usually stay at YC or BC :) )...the smell totally dissuades me from wanting to go anytime other than breakfast. Sorry, but it's just not my thing and there are so many other great restaurants to enjoy. Seems that plenty of people are always lined up waiting to get in though.
