Flying Fish V's Coral Reef

Hvent been to flying fish but we loved coral reef last year, had heard mixed reviews on it butit was fab, just wish we had a seat nearer as we were at the back, although uts raised seating my twins couldnt see but the food was fab

I haven't been to Coral Reef but have been to Flying Fish and loved it. Food was lovely and so was the restaurant, atmosphere and bar area!

Sorry I can't compare the two but hopefully if you get a mixture of views on each place it will help :goodvibes

We've been to Flying Fish many times over the years and it's always been great. Never been to Coral Reef though!!

We've done both.

Food at flying fish was excellent - totally different league to coral reef.

But sitting next to the tank at coral reef is a great experience. Second time we waited a bit longer to get a tank side table.

We really disliked Coral Reef, Mediocre food, Mediocre service, really dark inside etc...

We're trying Flying Fish this year and have read many great reviews and very few people who havent thoroughly enjoyed it. Fingers crossed we enjoy it too :thumbsup2

It depends what kind of experience you want. If you're not so fussy about the food but you want the uniqueness and entertainment of sitting next to one of the largest aquariums in the world then go to Coral Reef. However if you'd rather have one of the most delicious meals you've ever tasted in a lovely atmosphere with knowledgeable servers then go to Flying Fish.

We've been to both and now Flying Fish is on our "must do" list for every trip.

WE love both places & eat at both on each trip.

Coral Reef is more causal dining.
We love sitting by the tank & watching the fish during lunch.
It is a relaxing restaurant to dine at.
Their salads are great & I love their Mahi- mahi.
We've dined there lots of times & have anyways enjoyed our meal.

Flying Fish is more upscale & is a smaller restaurant.
Their food is awesome!
The potato wrapped snapper & steak is so so good.
We always enjoy our meal here too.

We have done both and will continue to do so on each trip,
Flying fish is a signature meal and so its more upscale with fancier food and much more attentive service ( IMO) we really love to get dressed up for an evening out and so its perfect to do flying fish and then take a walk around board walk if they have EMH at Epcot or HS then we also pop over to one of them :)

Coral reef is a must have for our family as the boys really love the tank! We always ask to sit next to the tank or at least be on the 1st section so the experience is wonderful they sometimes say it will be over an hour wait but we always say we are happy with that and wait its never been more then 15/20 mins!
Our very 1st time at CR was awful we was on the very back row and our server was mean to my kids ( I've posted before about what happened when we refused to tip the 18% ) and so we was put off for a yr or 2 but then we was in Epcot and it was just DH and myself we was hungry and so decided to give it another go, soooo different from our 1st experience everything was wonderful food/server/ location of table and so now we go back twice each trip! :)

Thanks everyone, your comments have been really helpful. Tinker pea, I am glad you replied as I read your previous post re CR and it put me off. Glad you have had much better experience since. can't wait to go, only got to wait until October! :cheer2:

Haha I'm guessing your on about that one where I had the awful service an then the manager decided to tell us he would put a note on all of our other ADRs that was booked!
That was our very 1st trip and it put us off ever wanting to go back, such an upsetting experience!
I'm so thankful that we gave it another go as the next server we had was simply wonderful :) the food was fab and like I said we just love the atmosphere with the tank.
We have been back a few times since that awful 1st!!
