Flying Fish or Yachtsman Steakhouse

I'm flying in to WDW for one night for an interview, and will need to grab a late dinner near where I'm staying (Boardwalk) after my flight arrives. I'd like to try a signature restaurant that I haven't been to before. So, experts - all things considered, would you pick dinner at Flying Fish or Yachtsman Steakhouse? I love seafood and steak, so *type* of food doesn't differentiate for me.

Can you get better steaks or seafood at home? I would go with what you can't get as well at home. We can get great steaks at home and average seafood, so we lean toward seafood when we are on the coasts.
I don't think you can go wrong with either. Just depends on whether you want seafood or steak.
A totally different option, Il Mulino at the Swan has really good Italian.
Shulas is also supposed to be a really good Steak House at the Dolphin (haven't tried it ).

Excellent advice. I always consider the choices at WDW against what we have at home in both quality and price. Either are fine.

Between those two, Flying Fish (which, by the way, has a delicious steak on the menu). I'd also consider bluezoo over at the Dolphin (better seafood than Flying Fish, in my opinion).

Wow, thats a real Sophie's choice. If I could only do 1 it would be Flying Fish but that is only because I love seafood more than beef. Good news is you truly can't go wrong with either. So maybe grab an app at the bar to Flying Fish then head over to Yachtsman for a steak? Could get the best of both worlds that way.

Very well said.

Both good choices in theory for me. I've eaten at FF a few times but not Yachtsman which is on my ADR list for this summer.
Look at the menus and ask specific questions about what attracts you to each restaurant and get a better idea from there.

I've eaten at both multiple times. I love the steak at Yachtsman. Flying Fish is very good, but I prefer the delicious fish at Todd English BlueZoo at the Dolphin. The Miso glazed Mero is to die for!

We ate at YS in December, and FF just last night. If you're in it purely for the steak, go with YS (only if you're opposed to Shula's, which is even better). The beef was a bit better at YS IMO, but this isn't where FF shines. The atmosphere, service, and the rest of the menu are easily superior at FF right now IMO. The pork belly appetizer -words cannot describe how good.

We're partial to YSH. In addition to the steaks here, we love, love, love the pull apart onion rolls with the roasted garlic and a slab of salted butter they put on your table.

We've enjoyed FF in the past, but the recent renovation and changes to the menu leave us cold.

I ate at both on my trip last month and fully enjoyed both. As others have said, you really can’t go wrong either way. If I had to pick, I’d go with Flying Fish because I really enjoy sitting at their bar when solo. The bartenders are outstanding — know the menu inside and out, can offer great drink recommendations, and really “get” hospitality. There’s also the potential to chat with other guests (or not- one person at the bar brought a book). Whatever you choose, hope you enjoy. And good luck with your interview!!!

Of the 2 I would say Yachtsman but I am from the mid-west and have been told I would not know good seafood if it walked up and smacked me in the face. And as several others have suggested you are very close to Shula's which is an incredible place to get steak.

I would lean toward Yachtsman, we've had some great visits to Flying Fish in the past pre-remodel (sitting at the kitchen "bar" seats), but the last two trips have been less impressive. Also echo those who mentioned to expand the possibilities to include bluezoo and Shula's. IMHO on food alone Shula's beats Yachtsman and bluezoo beats Flying Fish.

Having never been to either :lmao: we are choosing Yachtsman. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

OP, I just re read your post and realise you are eating later in the night and have an interview the next day.
Me? I like to eat light before an interview so maybe fish/seafood is the answer.
