I know these are two totally different eateries but if you could only pick one which would it be? We like Italian food and I love seafood (DH not so much) but I also love, love, love lobster bisque! I see it is on the Flying Fish menu. We are staying at the Boardwalk and every other night we have dinners we do not want to miss. So one has to stay but one has to go!

Help us choose by sharing which is your preference and why. Thanks!

My personal preference is Trattoria. You get more bang for the buck. Flying Fish is very good however coming from New England, I am spoiled with the seafood I can get here. It’s weird because I can also get great Italian but I really liked the different options that Trattoria, the open kitchen atmosphere and the food was pretty good. I’m probably in the minority but it’s personal preference

For me, it would be Flying Fish. Never had a meal there that didn’t make me long for another visit. Strangely enough, never had their lobster bisque but there is always tomorrow 😉.

Trattoria al Forna isn’t a priority reservation for us since we live in an area with tons of Italian cuisine so save it for home.

Flying Fish by far! We've eaten at both these restaurants and while Trattoria isn't bad, Flying Fish is better.

Flying Fish seems like a more elevated experience to us. Excellent service and you can tell a lot of attention is paid to every element of your dinner.

Trattoria seems more casual, noisier. Still a restaurant I want to eat at but a different experience than FF.

Flying Fish by far….

Have eaten there many times, only once did I have an “average” meal… the rest of the time I thought it was great!

Trattoria I have eaten at twice… one meal was “okay” one was “terrible”. Am in no hurry to go back.

We are from the UK and have been to Flying fish twice now, we found the food both times to be just ok! Restaurant is nice and service decent but found food to be underseasoned both times (both fish and steak), never tried Trattoria al forno but hoping to visit this September…the lasagne looks superb.

Vote for Flying Fish. We tried Trattoria but the NY strip was ugly. Fatty, thin, and curled up on the ends. We’ve found many other restaurants outperform Trattoria, including Turf Club, Kona Cafe, and GF Cafe.

Don’t think you can go wrong with either. Both are very good IMO. We tend to try to have a mix of restaurants for our trip. For example, If we have a number of steak / seafood restaurants already reserved we might chose Trattoria just to change things up

With my job I've had the chance to try a lot of different fancy places and Flying Fish was one of the most impressive meals I've had for a quality for the $ and eve if $ wasn't a factor it's still awesome. It's a great meal.

We dined at Trattoria last week and it was delicious. Loved the shrimp and pasta dish. I have not eaten at Flying Fish though I'd like to one day.

I just want to say that if you have a Cake Bake ressie, I would drop that and keep Trattoria and Flying Fish.

We like both so no wrong answer but I will say I think the portion size isn’t much for what you pay at Flying Fish if that is any significance at all. My suggestion might be to try to do both … hit the bar at Flying Fish and grab your bisque (if you happen to have a Narcoosee res theirs is better imo) and then head over to Trattoria for your Italian … problem solved

Yes! We happen to have both a Cake Bake breakfast reservation on our last day and a dinner reservation for another evening. I think I like your suggestion. I'm going to cancel the Cake Bake dinner and switch it out for Flying Fish since we already have Trattoria booked for dinner. Thanks so much!!

Yay. We had lunch at Cake Bake, and sadly, I wasn't all that impressed. Our server was aloof and barely checked on us. The food... just okay.

If I were you, and you don't mind the upcharge for characters, I'd switch that breakfast to Topollino's which is a quick skyline ride away. Either way, breakfast allows you to see Cake Bake but enjoy some better dinners.
