We are trying to choose between Flying Fish or Shula's for a nice evening out. Any opinions? I have seen both of the menues, but I was wondering which has the better service, unique atmosphere, etc. Thanks!

I have eaten at both restaurants, Shulas once, Flying Fish many times. Our experience at Shulas was less than stellar, great food but very snotty service. I went with my best friend and it appeared that they made a decision that because it was two women dining that their tip was not going to be worth attentive service. We are both waitresses so not only are we quite forgiving in recieving not up to par service if the server tries their best but this was not the case. The food was fabulous and we will give it another try next time. The Flying Fish on the other havd has never disappointed us. Great service, festive atmosphere and always stellar food. My DH and I had our anniversary dinner there a couple of years ago and we also had a group of 7 funloving women celebrating a 50th birthday and both events were just perfect. It is my favorite restaurant on property, whether a special dinner or just a quick bite at the counter.

I am an advocate of Shula's. We have been there numerous and we have not had bad service or a bad meal. Since we are carnivores we would choose it over the FF. We seem to cancel the FF due to it limited menu. I tihnk you need to let the menue be your guide.

Shula's has great steak, but the atmosphere is definitely "mens clubbish" and the service is "polite correct" but without that feeling of being in a Disney restaurant.
FF is a fine spot, a bit noisy, but with excellent seafood and from what I've read, some great steak also.
Both places have fine wine lists, and pathetic beer offerings.

Thanks for the replies. Seems mixed. Flying Fish does sound like the more unique of the two restaurants.

W've never been to Shula's but have been to Flying Fish many times and love it. Believe it or not they have one of the best steaks in WDW.

We did Thanksgiving dinner at Flying Fish and it was one of the very best steaks I've ever had1 I would almost always steer clear of the chain restaurants if I could. Not that Shulas is bad, but just lacking the the "special" department.

We enjoyed Shula's in October as well as Flying Fish. The fish was very nice at FF and the waitstaff was pleasant. My husband ordered the wine flight and it was just okay whereas Shula's had excellent wine choices with high prices to match. I found the atmosphere at Shula's to be footballish in a strange way. When you go to Morton's you feel as though you are in a men's club but when we were at Shula's we were dismayed to be ushered into a noisy small waiting room blasting Snow White on a large screen TV. It just wasn't what we expected. The steak was excellent but the quality of the appetizers and sides(all is a la carte) was subpar for the exhorbitant price. We would return to Shula's if we had money to burn but would probably stick with California Grille for consistently good meals. I would also return to FF, especially since I am not expert with wine and "fairly good" is usually good enough for me. Threehearts

We ate at Shula's in 2002 and found it to be just ok. Our steak was not the greatest and having to pay $10 to split it with my wife was crazy. We probably will not be back as there are much better places at Disney that have great steaks. We have never tried FF but it is on our list to try on our next trip.

We ate at both restaurants last August. FF was the winner hands down! The steak at Shulas was tough, but the steak at FF was heavenly. Shulas was way too expensive for the quality of the meal. The steaks are so big that they kind of turn your stomach. They placed the tray of "sample dinners" right next to us and the lobster looked like he was going to jump off the plate! It's hard to concentrate on your meal with two beadie eyes looking at you! We can't wait to go back to FF.

I like Shula's but I love Flying Fish. Flying Fish's NY stirp steak is to die for! Their fish is also excellent but I just love their NY strip steak. Best steak I have ever had anywhere, and I eat A LOT of beef.
