DW and I are trying to decide where to go to dinner on the Friday evening two days before I run the WDW Marathon. (My first marathon. :D ) We're arriving on Friday, staying at the Dolphin, and would like to stay close to the hotel for the evening.

I think that we've got it narrowed down to either the Flying Fish or Palio and I would love to hear opinions and comparisons.

We're planning to eat at Cafe D'Antonio at Celebration for a pre-marathon pasta dinner on Saturday. (I don't want to eat too much just before the marathon, but it's a vacation too, right?) Since we're having Italian food on Saturday, I'm thinking the Flying Fish might be nice on Friday. Then again, I hear that Palio is quiet and romantic, which would also be nice.

Please help us. :D Also, any recommendations regarding favorite menu options at either restaurant would be greatly appreciated.

Both are excellent restaurants, if I had to pick one, FF gets the edge, because I find their food slightly better than Palio. Both are good but FF just has the slight edge. Palio will be much quieter/romantic and of course has Italian/Mediterrean food which is very, very good. FF has a busier, trendy type atmosphere which also has excellent food. Since you are having Italian food the night before, then for seafood I would go with FF. Their seafood and their Seared NY strip steak is to die for! Also if you want romantic, after dinner take a nice leisurely stroll around the boardwalk/walkway all around the Epcot resorts--it is beautiful at night and very peaceful. Then relax for a bit on a swing on the beach at YC/BC, as you continue your walk around the lake, then if you want a really good time go into Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk for a couple drinks and ALOT of fun! Enjoy!!!!

I would pick Flying Fish. I've haven't eaten here (yet). However, it consistently receives great reviews from Guide Books and the Disboards. In addition, it's on the Boardwalk. So, after dinner or before dinner, you could stroll the Boardwald which might be fun. Have a great time whatever you decide! :)

Coincidentally I ate at both last weekend. Palio is great on atmosophere and the food is good too. I had Sea Bass for the first time and although it wasn't cooked in the very middle (a very thick filet) it was still excellent.

FF is hands down the better restaurant unless you specifically prefer Itallian inspired cuisne to noueavu seafood.

Palio will be quiet & romantic...FF is quite lively.

Either choice, depnding upon your personal preferene will be fine.

josierac has just done a review on both--it's on the post " August 2000 Where we ate".
Offhand I'd say FF, especially since you are doing cafe D'Antonio.

Both are excellent restaurants but Flying Fish is on our must do list every trip. I think it is the better of the two. And a stroll on the boardwalk is always nice after dinner.

Thank you for all the replies! Aren't these boards great!?!

I had already made priority seating arrangements for Palio, but I think I'm going to changes them to Flying Fish.

It's good to know that I can't go wrong either way. :D
