Flying Fish or Cape May Clambake?

Our kids were 4 and just turned 2 when we went to Flying Fish in May. We had no problem with them at Flying Fish. The manager even came over with stickers for the kids and took my 4 year old over to the open window to have the chef's make a "huge" fire on the table. They were FANTASTIC with the kids. The restaurant is not one of the quieter signatures and we had no issue with noise. There were quite a few kids there (but not as many as say CG). The only draw back was that the bathroom is actually in the candy store. They have a connecting door... but it was a pain to have to take little ones through a CANDY STORE at dinner time!

The kids menu at signatures is very nice compared to the regular menu at most Disney restaurants. For an appetizer DD4 had a fruit skewers that came with a yogurt dipping sauce. Both kids loved that. For dinner she ordered the fish sticks. I was so pleased when they arrived as I was expecting Ms. Pauls' style. But they were real white fish lightly breaded and on skewers. (I did take a bite and it was very tasty!) They came with a small fry basket (like the type that you actually fry the fries in) all lined with news paper. She thought that was SOOO cool. For dessert they had the white chocolate puzzle that you can paint with colored food coloring.

If you are looking for a nice meal I think you will love it!

Ironically, Flyish Fish also has one of the best steaks in WDW, their NY Strip is excellent, but for $40 or so, it may be a bit pricey for your 5 year old son, and not on the children's menu. :)

There is a delicious steak skewer on the kids menu that my son gets every time. My other child rotates between the grilled cheese or the Mickey Pasta with just butter and parmesean. One child gets the puzzle (undoubtedly paints his face every time) the other gets the chocolate fondue with the Mickey crazy straw...everyone is happy!!!

How can you rate it if you haven't even tried it? It's a must-do place for us and the crab legs and clams, mussels are all steamed right in front of you :confused3 And for your information, it IS just as tasty as a non-buffet of the same entrees  Maybe you should wait until you actually try it to convince others it's not as tasty :rolleyes1 Are we a little anti-buffet for some reason? It's your choice, and the place is packed every time we go, so please do not make yourself go where the flavors and preparation are not that good or the food not so tasty (especially when you've never even tried it).

Wow, get defensive much? I like steamed seafood and I'm sure I'll like Cape May. Crab legs are a favorite. I'm from New England, so steamed seafood isn't so much of a novelty for me as it might be for someone who is from, say, Kansas. There are sooooo many ways to prepare crab, clams, and muscles that are not just steamed in plain water. You could do a nice white wine broth with shallots and herbs with the clams and muscles; or muscles marinaire with a red sauce; or have a light crab salad-type entree or appetizer. They could all be used as a stuffing of large gulf shrimp or lobster. Really, the possibilities are endless and that's the difference that I was trying to point out: that they are both seafood restaurants that prepare and serve their items differently. If you want something that is just in its pure form then Cape May would be your place. If you want something where the chef takes the crab or muscles or what-have-you and adds some other flavors and ingredients to come up with a dish, then go with Flying Fish.

I also don't think that whether or not a restaurant is always filled is a testament to how good it is. Whether a place is good is very subjective. Just look at the recent "Is Tony's really that bad?" threads. There are very opposing views of that place. We thought it was really bad Italian food that wasn't much better than an Olive Garden (which we also don't like) but there are plenty who think it's great. It was completely filled when we were there and I'm sure it continues to be.

The OP sounded like she wanted something special, so I picked FF since I think it's more special than a clam bake in general.
