Flying Fish entree recommendations

My favorite is the char encursted steak and ceaser salad. The salmon is supposed to be really good. We shared calamari and it was excellant. Susan

The salmon is excellent there! :thumbsup2 A lot of times I will get the mussels appetizer and a salad if I feel like having a light dinner. The mussels are excellent as well. (this was the first place I've ever tasted them) :thumbsup2 The ravioli is also awesome. :goodvibes

I have had the steak several times and it is excellent. DD loves the Mahi Mahi and Grouper. We have had the peeky toe crab cakes and think they are very good, too. But the best thing at FF is at the end .. the chocolate souffle! It is out of this world!

The potato wrapped red snapper is excellent. It is one of the signature dishes. As far as dessert goes, the banana Napoleon is outstanding, but during the last few visits, they have been serving a strawberry Napoloen. It's not as good as the banana IMHO. FF is one of our favorites!

1st choice: Whatever the seafood of the day with risotto is.
2nd choice (only by a hair): Charred NY Strip steak.

Hmmm. Going in a few weeks and Red Snapper sounds great. I hope it's in season.

We had dinner on 19/3/06. Some menu changes (as compared to allearsnet.com), no more scallops available. DW and my mom ordered the snapper, DW likes it but my mom doesn't. My dad orders the chef thunder: English cod, and it was very good. Our server highly recommended Mahi Mahi, which was caught two days ago - so that's my entree, I think it is excellent!

DW had crab cakes and I had a bite on it. It is good, but I think the crab cake at Nacrossess's are even better.

I dream about that snapper. The napoleon is now raspberry - I never had the banana, but ther raspberry was excellent. (The waiter did say that the banana was even better, I asked).

The last time we were at FF the banana Napoleon was replaced by the strawberry Napoleon. Our waiter said that the new chef made the replacement "to use the freshest of in season ingredients". I think the expression "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applied in this situation. The custard and bananas went so well together.

We had the peeky toe crab cakes and signature snapper dish. Crab cakes were good but not traditional at all and the snapper was ok but nothing I would ever get again. The snapper was on top of a mound of leeks and smothered in a very unappealing red wine butter sauce that looked brown. After I scrapped some of the leeks off to the side it did taste ok but the sauce was just very unatractive. We would try the FF again but next time I would order anything that was cooked on the wood fired grill. That smelled wonderfull.
