You will get full meals instead of snacks. Linen on the trays. Real glass glasses, china instead of plastic dishes, small salt and pepper shakers instead of the packets
When was the last time you flew in 1st class? LOL, most of those niceties are long gone. I am a VFF and fly in 1st quite a bit and I can tell you that the experience varies wildly. In fact, there was just a great article on this in the WSJ last Tuesday.
Sometimes you get a pre-flight beverage. Sometimes not. That depends on the flight attendants, the aircraft, the airline & the airport. (No variables there, huh??)
Sometimes you get a full meal when the rest of the plane gets a snack. Sometimes you just get a bigger snack. Sometimes you get what coach gets. See above for the variables.
I haven't seen a hot towel on a domestic flt. since after Sept. 11. I got one on one int'l flight. Not sure how they classify San Juan.
I have never gotten noise cancelling headsets.
The one thing you will get is a bigger seat - and that's what makes it all worth it!
If you really want to learn about your airline, go to
http://www.flyertalk.com/milesfr.shtml and look at your airline.
goofyme - what airline are you flying? I can give you some specifics if you'll let me know. No matter what, it will be better than coach.
Have a great trip.
