Flying Dutchman? Castaway Cay

Hi everyone!

Forgive me if this has been asked before but does anyone know if the Flying Dutchman pirate ship is still at Castaway Cay? My family and I are going on the 4 day Bahamian cruise in August and I would love to see it!! Has anyone been to Castaway Cat recently? Was it there?

It was there, but did not last very long. I know my MIL has pictures from a cruise that she went on of it, but when we went the next year it was not there. I was looking forward to seeing it from the ship too!

It was there for a few years until weather deteriorated it too much and they had to disassemble it.

This pic is from 2006 or 2007. It didn't leave CC until 2010.

It was there on our WBTA in 2010 (early Oct). But I believe that someone reported that they were dismantling it shortly afterward.

Yes, I believe late 2010...November or December.

I wish they had made a bigger effort to keep it. Maybe too much maintenance? But she was a real site to see and quite exciting to have it there.

Now that they're (supposedly) doing a 5th movie, wonder if they'll bring it back?

I seem to remember one of the CMs saying that it had also gotten damaged during tropical storm/hurricane. Since it was built as a movie prop it didn't stand up to the weather too well.

Honestly, there really wasn't much they could do with it. It wasn't built to be in the elements. It was just a movie prop. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did, through tropical storms, salt water, and all. Of course, the initial deterioration just added to the look. But, eventually, it just needed to come down.

It was in November 2010 I was at castaway cay three times in two weeks than. A 4 night wonder cruise the ship was in its spot. Than 2 days at wdw. Than on the magic for a double dip cruise. The first day at castaway cay on the magic it wasn't in its spot. The second time at castaway cay on the magic it was in thousands of pieces. If someone wants the dates for it let me know and I will look. Right now have to get back to work.

Really late to add on to the topic but from what I've gathered, it was removed in 2010 due to it deteriorating. It was most likely brought over to another part of the island and dismantled, meaning if you traveled to Castaway Cay on the Disney Fantasy or Dream, it was removed already.
