flying coach - personal space on 777 vs 757

I know that 777's are much larger than 757's but my question is do you really have any more personal space when flying coach? I have flown on both but it's been a while since I was on a 777. My theory is they just cram more seats onto the larger planes.

I went to SeatGuru.com and see that the seats on a 777 are a little less than an inch wider so that would help a little (very little).

Planning a trip to Barcelona in October and trying to gather info for our traveling companions. DH and I are already booked on Continental (mostly 767's which I prefer for long flights because of the 2-3-2 seat configuration) but it is a 757 on the long leg from Newark to Barcelona and our friends said they would never fly overseas on a 757 again because of the space issue. They are considering Air France because they would be on 777's all the way. I'm trying to tell them they're not going to have much (if any) more space and with the 3-3-3 seat configuration one of them will still have to sit in the middle. :scared:

We've been there done that (757 overseas and also from Anchorage to Houston) and that is why we are using miles to upgrade to first class on the Newark to Barcelona flight but my friends are unable to do that. But I still think they would be better off booking with us for the majority of legs being on 767's.

Am I giving them correct info?

P.S. Sorry this turned out so long! :o

Interior configurations are highly dependent on the airline. I'd suggest you look at www.seatguru.com for some pretty good information.

.

Not if they take 2 aisle seats across from one another! :) My DH and I will not sit in a middle seat so that's what we do.

I *did* go to Seat Guru (as mentioned in my long, meandering post :p ;)).

Now that is a good idea! And it's one I hadn't thought of because my DH likes a window and I like an aisle.

I'll pass along the suggestion. Thanks!

Sorry - I got lost on one of the meanders!
I understand completely!

Concise, I'm not. :rolleyes1

But I do appreciate the response. :)

Tough to say - I don't experience much difference on a 757 and a 777 - but I do fly United and Economy Plus has extra seat pitch anyways.

My absolute favourite seat on any aircraft in Economy is a 757 in seat 9a - the frozen feet seat. It's right by the entrance and emergency exit door, and has about 4 feet of leg room - yes, you read correctly.

It does have some drawbacks - no under seat storage, people tend to congregate and hold cocktail parties and require the evil eye to get them to stop talking, and the above mentioned frozen feet.

Actually, a lot of regular flyers DON'T like row 9 for these reasons.

I agree that 2 aisles are a better option.
