Last time we went to D*S we drove and my mom was very excited about being able to bring a caramel apple back with her (seriously, that ice chest was a treasure trove). This time we're flying, and though I have assured her that I can't think of any reason TSA would steal her apple she is very nervous about it haha

Has anyone taken one through security, and if so could you please reassure my dear mom with your first hand apple transport experience?

I was reading about getting through TSA the other day. Food items seemed to be okay. What isn't allowed are liquids.

I've never tried getting a caramel apple through TSA. But I had NO trouble getting a backpack with food for 5 through TSA.
We had a 6:40am flight and I packed grapes, apple and orange slices, three types of cheeses, along with salami, ham and turkey.
Once in the air and half way there I pulled out the food and paper plates in the backpack. Served up the kids breakfast.

Maybe have her buy two in case TSA wants one.

While I have not personally brought a candy apple through (they NEVER make it that long out side of my tummy) I have traveled loads and they are not on the restricted list in any shape or form.

As long as you are not crossing international borders (US to Canada), you are good to go on the plane with the candy apple. Both countries restrict most open food from crossing the borders.

We have flow with those apples in our personal carry-on bags several times, you should be fine.

We have flown with them every time we come home from WDW. We usually have anywhere from four to eight apples with us in our carry on luggage. One time TSA did physically inspect the apples, however they let us through with them after inspecting them.

Apples are not a liquid. There are no problems bringing fruit through airport security.

You can always check the TSA website if you're not sure of the rules.
