Hi. My dd will be going on a cruise on Friday and she and her friends are just doing carryons. She just asked me if she can take a razor in a carryon. I told her I have no clue but my friends on the dis will know lol

Thank you.

Questions like this are best searched on the www.TSA.Gov website, but yes, razors are allowed in carryons.

I'm assuming she has a "shaver" not razor blades separately. :). It'll be fine.

Now if she has a "safety razor", which is, weirdly, not that safe (it's the handle that you out a plain razor into) (and it's so-named because it was safer than the razors on the handle used commonly ages ago), than that's going to need to be checked.

But a modern day Venus or Quattro etc with the razors ensconced in a plastic thing that you click into a handle (or even the disposable ones that you don't change out) are just fine.

Oh, thank you.
It is a metal "handle" that would be used and input onto a blade. For instance, we buy the blades separately and then as they wear out,
take it off the "handle" and put on a new blade. Now what? Should she just buy a disposable one for the trip?
Thanks.

You can fly with those. I don't know of anyone who has the old school razor that the PP mentioned that seems to be confusing you. If it is just a standard razor used for shaving legs and under arms I wouldn't worry one bit.

Thanks so much! She will have the razor handle connected to the blade and just pack it. I appreciate your help.

Just clarifying your DD has something like this?download.jpg where the white "razor" comes off and you put a new one on when it is dull.

A "straight razor" resembles a kitchen knife and I am sure it would not be allowed in carry on bags.

A "safety razor" has the metal blade(s) (rarely more than 2 inches long) inside a shield (the white part above) that fits onto a handle (the green part above) or has the handle permanently attached). The "safety" part is that you cannot slash yourself or someone else while shaving but you can still nick yourself. (You can slash yourself with the bare blade if you have to be insert that into the shield manually as opposed to the blade and shield being preassembled.)
