We are booked on a Virgin flydrive, we have not paid for the insurance yet, we are on a 14 days holiday.

We are wondering if we could pay 1 one week insurance and leave the car on disney site. We do not need the car for more than a couple of days, just so we can go to universal and shopping for 1 day.

Has anyone done this before, if we unable to do this we will leave the car at the airport, has anyone left the car at the airport before with any problems.

We are sorted for getting to and from the hotel as we have booked the magical express.

I dont know the answer to your insurance question-sorry.
just thinking though once you've got the car you may find you will use it alot more, and explore more of florida!

hiya

from what i know if the cars going to be with you for two weeks away from the rental company site it has to be insured for the whole time, parking it in the disney hotel car park uninsured isnt allowed I dont think,

probably best thing to do is just have it for a week then take it back

probably best to call virgin im sure they will be able to check for you

We paid £400 last March and only used the car a total of 5 times, to and from the airport and shopping 3 times, we thought it was a lot of money to waste.

We never used a car in Dec, and we tried to hire a car for one day, and the insurance was more than the car hire its self.

We are staying at SSR, so we will use the disney transport.

as long as its the same company and you explain about not using it the second week when you get it it shouldnt be a problem i dont think.

Princess, I'm not clear exactly from your post what you have already got - just the car is that right??

What we like to do is get DME to our hotel onsite and then pick a car up at the Dolphin say a week or two into the holiday, then have it for say 5 days to explore elsewhere. Like you when we have a car for the whole time it sits undriven in the car park for a majority of time and I feel it's just a bit of a waste of money really.

ETA - and yes we have done fly drives several times and just never picked up the car. No problem at all.

We had a Virgin flydrive in December, but didn't pick up the car.

Instead we booked a towncar transfer to and from the hotel (Dolphin), and then the day we wanted to go off site to the Florida Mall we booked another towncar.

Total cost was about $200 (approx. £120), including tips - a lot less than the cost of car hire insurance etc. and less stressful :)
