Fly-drive Price for 2013

I have approx 21,000 miles thru virgin, would it be worth buying extra ones in the hope that I would have enough for one of these deals that you were talking about Wayne ? This is for next July ?

Thanks

Oh I do hope I can get that kind of a flight for next August! I've been hoarding miles and saving up so we'll have around 25,000 miles, i'd be so chuffed to fly out economy and back PE for around £700 each. I am willing to be patient - and extremely generous with drinks in Florida, Wayne, in exchange for flight deal info ;)

Lets hope I see a deal then :rotfl:

Its very difficult to advise anyone to buy miles, you don't really want to put money into miles if there are no deals for your dates, its a bit of a waste. Problem is if your dates do become available and you are short you wished you had bought when they had an offer on. I have never bought any yet.

How do 'miles and money' deals work Wayne? A certain amount of fares for certain dates Or is it random?

Should have saved my money from going to Wembley today and out it into my holiday fund ;)

Not sure if they have a set amount on each flight or they just wait and see how they are selling. Offpeak they are available and quite easy to get, just not a massive saving. Peak can be very hard to get saving could be minimal or quite substantial, Mart(burt) got abut £500pp discount off PE this August, he paid just over £700pp instead of over £1,200pp full price.

Shame They didn't play like that from the start, gutted they lost.

We're looking for flights for next Easter ... normally I play around with dates and go when I can find a deal ... but this is an extended family trip and they've set the dates and already booked the villa.

So ... the flights will be released in a week or so (we need out on 29th March (Good Friday), back 2 weeks later. I'm not used to this ... are we likely to get the best price when they're released? I'm already scared given the prices I've seen that have been released by some airlines.

I've almost 50,000 virgin airmiles but I'm open to any suggestions of the cheapest way to get out there!! any advice?

You'll most likely be looking for the exact same flights as me Janiebubble, we need to fly out on the good Friday too as we have a cruise leaving on the Saturday :)

Yeah twas a shame Wayne, should have started big Andy as he was up for it. Oh well :)

Prices when released are likely to be OTT, they know people are waiting so the hike the price. Problem is if they do sell well then the price will not drop, depends how many bottle it and pay over the odds.

To use miles its just a matter of searching every day, multiple times a day and hope they release some lower prices Miles and Money fares, could be just after they are released it might be 6 months later, you have no idea.

Thanks Wayne, that's what I was afraid of! Given my job we can't fly earlier than the 29th (I'm a teacher) but we could go a little later, come back a little sooner as we're just 2 out of 9 people going. I think I'll play around with the dates and see what comes up. I'm also not adverse to flying indirect (in fact in some ways I think I prefer it) so hopefully it won't get too crazy. I've noticed that jetsave have a complete package on our dates for £945 flying Virgin so fingers crossed it will be cheaper than that!!

Managed to snag miles plus money once before and got there for £350 each at February half term, but those deals are few and far between!

I am shocked and stunned

Just got a quote from VH for a flydrive next October. 2 adults and 1 child was a grand total of £2258 (and that was with 10% discount) :scared1:

Well, I guess I will be waiting for the flights to be released in November now.

we are a family of 5 and virgin flydrive quote we got was over £6000!! that was for 28 nights so not sure how much difference that make sto it but was way more than i had budgeted for

I had to laugh today. Despite the fact that told her several times that it was far more than we'd payed before for flydrives and well out of our budget, the girl I spoke to very kindly called today to follow up and ask if we wanted to go ahead and book :rotfl2:
