Mrs. Disneydentist here.

The haircut thread got me thinking, who out there colors their hair and what color? I've been doing my for sixteen years. The first fourteen were blonde, including bleached white, including two-tone with brunette. The last two were copper red, somtimes with a blonde streak, sometimes with dark on the bottom. I just got daring and dyed it all a very dark burgundy (think black with purpely highlights). I like that so much that I'm seriously considering black. My natural color is dark brown. I now, for the first time since I've been dyeing my hair, have light roots instead of dark roots.

Bottom line, what's your natural color and what are you using on it? BTW, I do it at home. I've never been to a salon.

TIA.

Mine is dark brown. I do it myself at home. Have had it done at the salon before, but hate to pay for that! I usually mix two colors together to get my dark brown with some reddish highlights. This time I used a different product and it got pretty dark, almost black in spots. A little dark for my taste, but it is washing out some now. Would love to be able to do highlights myself, but just don't like the way they come out when I do it.
I have never been blonde. But have had blonde frost done before (didn't like it).

My natural color was light brown, got pregnant and had child, my hair turned dark brown. I have auburn and blonde highlights. I like the two tone look.

Last year for the first time in my life I colored my hair. I went to a salon and spent close to $150 to have two different colors of blond highlights put in (plus cut and style). My boyfriend never noticed. Even after I told him what I did he still couldn't see a difference.

I just leave my hair alone now. I wish I had the courage to change the color! I love when women do that! I have a friend who colors her hair different colors all the time. I always think one color looks the best until she does something different once again! :Pinkbounc I would love to do that!

I'm stuck with this dark auburn, greying hair until I get some courage. :p

Mine is golden brown. I buy my Wella products (which are simple to use) at a beauty supply shop. It costs me $4.50 each time, compared to $155 at the salon I used to go to. It's the same product she used at the salon...a few years ago the someone slipped and told me:Pinkbounc

My hair is dark brown and I put light brown hightligts to cover the gray. I have been doing it myself for about 3-4 years now.

I use semi-permanent (Clarol Moisture Actif) once a month to cover the initial stray gray hairs. The added benefit is that it takes a fairly mousy brown and gives it some rich, auburn highlights. I also find that it gives a little more body to my very fine, thin hair. So once a month, at home, for me.

I have no idea what my 'natural' haircolor is. heheh Most likely a dark brown.

my hair is usually highlighted with blonde, but it has been so many colors over the years:
bleached blonde (not a good look)
pink
ronald mcdonald red
blue
green (yes, I was the weird kid in high school)
mahogany
amber red
black (this was actually a mistake, had to have a salon fix the color, which then ended my 'at home coloring' forever)

I am currently very "natural" with my hair. It is a medium to dark brown that has a bunch of blondish highlights. Right now I can tell it is rather sun bleached because of the reddish tones to it as well.

However I did do a lot of dying of my hair from about 15 on. Since my hair naturally gets red to it, I would usually stick to those tones and was auburn for quite a long time. I used to do it at home. I did start going to Sally's Beauty supply at one point so I could get the level of peroxide I would want as well as a better selection of colors to choose from (not to mention cheaper). I have been a dk blonde, a variety of red/auburn, all shades of brown, black and a variety of vivid colors (bright red, orange and green to name a few).

Last time I colored my hair (before doing it to get back to normal just about 2 years ago) I was a nice medium coppery brown. I had the salon take care of that for me and eventually they kept adding a few things to make it less red and darker so it would blend in w/o any roots.

I like it, but it is so much upkeep and I really miss the natural highlights and tones I get. Lately I've been thinking about it again since I am starting to see gray hairs pop up. So far they have been in my blonde highlight areas so I might just let them go for a while :)

My girlfriend does hair from home, so she colors my hair. My hair is naturally brown, I just think it's too dull, I like it shinier. She does it a warm brown tone with a few copper highlights.

My natural color is "mousey brown." I have always hated it, but on the bright side, I have no grays. I don't think my mother has any grays. I highlight it with blonde and I like it a lot.

My natural color is light brown. I now have a lot of grey, so I have it highlighted at a salon to make the grey less obvious.

My hair is naturally dark brown. I just went back to my natural color this past year, because I was sick of coloring it. In the past, I had red highlights. Another time, I had blonde highlights. And in high school, my hair was dark purple! :earseek:

(I think the purple was my favorite. ;) )

My colorist calls it Cappuccino. In the fall and winter I get her to add a little bit of auburn to warm it up.

I love playing with color on my hair. My hair dresser has a salon attached to her home. As she is an independent, the cost is nowhere near what you'd pay in a fancier salon. I pay between $50-$60, which includes the shampoo, cut and blow-dry. She's always willing to accommodate my whims, too. In fact, she was at a show where they were doing some funky hair colors and she said she thought of me. :p Right now, the bottom is a solid auburn. (my hair is pretty short) The top is streaked with reddish purple and blonde. My original color is a dark icky brown. ;)

I have light brown hair and have blonde highlights put in for a two tone look.

Currently have my natural color which is a medium brown with red highlights. I have had it dyed auburn and strawberry blonde but the problem with my hair is whatever I do to dye it, it always ends up the same dark strawberry blonde after a week or so.

At least I know it's not just me. Before I colored it all burgundy, it was burgundy on the bottom and copper red on the top with a big blonde swatch (think the whole front including the temples) in the front. It's nice too know that others do these things too. My parents, in-laws, and kids sometimes give me strange looks when I make a change. Dh thinks it's fun and offers encouragement.

I keep coloring it because I have a patch of white hair in the front of my head, it's been there since I was around 18.

I get mine done at a Salon and I change colors all the time but lately I've stayed in the blonde/light brown range. But it's been all shades of red, blonde and brown.

My natural color is a darker brown, I think. ;)

My natural color is a medium mousy brown and I've been coloring my hair at home since I was 15. For about the first 4 years I was blonde. And then I wanted something different so I went to an auburn color for a few years. Then back to blonde and now I've been bouncing between blonde and red for a couple of years. It's currently auburn.

I get bored with my hair easily and am always dying it or chopping it off.
