Flu Shot

Not painful at all. I had the flu shot and COVID booster on the same day. I was fine...until the next evening. Then I felt bad and slept for 12 hours. Woke up feeling fine.
Same thing. Booster in right arm, Flu shot in left arm. That was Tuesday.

Both were fine initially, but sore by the next morning. Covid side was more sore. Personally, I think it is the way the person giving you the shoot does it.

Today (Friday), no pain at all.

Mine hurt more then the last one. The pharmacist explained it’s because the medicine is in the needle so he really has to push to get it in. My arm is a hair sore…Advil helped yesterday.

I absolutely agree. Some people who administer shots have a smooth stick that you'd barely notice, and some can cause a big, yellow bruies up and down your arm. I don't know how they manage that, but they do.

My arm was very sore after my flu shot and it wasn’t like that last year. But I do think it has to do with the amount of fluid in the shot. The fluid expands into your muscle in your arm and so if there is a lot of fluid then your muscle expands more and it’s why you get pain like after you have a hard workout. Once the muscle contracts then the pain goes away which is why it can be sore for a few days.

I think this is why more people had sore arms with the Moderna vaccine versus Pfizer for Covid. There was more fluid in the Moderna vaccine. I also noticed that this year I had a Sanofi flu vaccine and last year it was a different brand (can’t remember which one).

I got my flu shot Monday Sept 20. I felt fine but my arm has actually been sore this whole time which is odd for me with flu shots. I get infusions weekly and none have ever hurt so it must have been the med or the fact that the muscles in my arm are few and far between! :teeth:

The flu shot never bothers me, this year was no exception.

Hoping they guessed correctly as to which strains would be prevalent this flu season!

Here are the strains in the US quadrivalent shot this year:
  • an A/Victoria/2570/2019 (H1N1) pdm09-like virus
  • an A/Cambodia/e0826360/2020 (H3N2)-like virus
  • a B/Washington/02/2019- like virus (B/Victoria lineage)
  • a B/Phuket/3073/2013-like virus (B/Yamagata lineage)

My arm always gets sore so I’m assuming it will this time too. Plan on getting mine very soon.

All 7 of my family got it about 2 weeks ago.......sore arm for the adults for a day or so.....very mild.
Kids never mentioned it again,

If you get the senior version we were told it might be more painful this year. they added something to it that is also in the shingles vaccine.......and that one did hurt!!
But we had no problem

Honestly the "seasonal" FLU shot in my opinion never has hurt. A bit of a sore arm the next day but the Covid vaccine effected me pretty bad. Not only that but shot 2 made me VERY sick for a few days.

I haven't had mine yet and come to think of it...I haven't heard anything at work either. :scratchin
