flu shot shortage????

Just got mine yesterday. There seems to be no shortage around here. All the flu shot clinics are still on.

You are correct, the problems are distribution related and aren't related to supply or manufacturing. It also appears to be regional or localized because places around here are advertising their availability on their signs.

So exactly what the HECK is a "distribution problem?" What, can't they find trucks to ship it out? No drivers? No company to handle getting it from point A to point B? What is this distribution problem that they speak of?

I could be wrong as I often am here on the Dis BUT I think we as a collective(collective being the folks here and the media) have agreed its not a shortage of vaccine but a distribution or shipment issue.
I do remember that a few years back we did have an actual shortage of the vaccine and it was a big hoopla in the media that was right up there with the west nile virus scare and the bird flu "epidemic".
I can only speak for our household but we have two pediatricians one located in Tippe county and the other in Hendricks and DH's employer has had clinics scheduled and cancelled and ex-husband who works with the city FD and all clinics/appt's have been cancelled due to a delay in shipment/short shipments w/o enough vaccine to go around. When I say short shipment I am not saying SHORTAGE I am saying they arent receiving full delivery so we are all on waiting lists. Those who need it most get it first. AND I was told by the oldest two childrens ped's office that medicaid/medicare always get their shipments earliest and they use a different supplier, so even though I was told here on this thread I am wrong on that I can only pass on what I was told and at the time believed it was true.
I am not sure even how many different suppliers for this vaccine there are BUT I am sure that not all facilities use the same suppliers.

Th press keeps saying it's "distribution problem" ASIF everyone knows what that means?????
